The median X (Twitter) account sold on PlayerSells went for $60, across 187 completed escrow sales between May 21 and October 19, 2026, and half of all sales closed between $19 and $125. Only 5 of the 187 (2.7%) reached $500 or more. Bigger accounts cost more but much less per follower: the median sale paid about $35 per 1,000 followers at 1,000 to 2,500 followers and about $7 per 1,000 at 20,000 and up. Seven in ten accounts sold at their asking price; the other three in ten closed a median 28% below it.

These are final prices that buyers paid through PlayerSells escrow, read from our own deal records, not asking prices and not estimates. Account marketplaces usually publish what sellers ask, and most "how much is my Twitter account worth" pages publish a formula. The always-current version of the main table is our X account prices page, which recalculates from every completed deal every six hours; this article is the analysis behind it as of October 20, 2026: how far sales close below the ask, how fast the price per follower falls, what a blue check and account age change, and how quickly accounts sell.

Key findings

  • Median sale $60 across 187 completed X account sales (May 21 to October 19, 2026); middle half $19 to $125; 63.6% of sales were under $100.
  • Price per 1,000 followers falls with size: $35.48 at 1K to 2.5K followers, $17.76 at 2.5K to 5K, $11.21 at 5K to 10K, $8.67 at 10K to 20K and $6.93 at 20K and up.
  • Accounts with 20K or more followers had 20.7 times the followers of 1K to 2.5K accounts but sold for 3.7 times the price.
  • 69.5% sold at the asking price. The 29.9% that were negotiated closed a median 27.9% below the ask. Above 10K followers, 55.9% were negotiated, at a median 35.7% off.
  • Accounts still listed on October 20 ask a median $200. Above 20K followers they ask a median $1,175, 5.3 times what accounts that size actually sold for ($220).
  • Of listings that had at least 30 days on the market, 6.1% of those asking $500 or more sold, against 40.1% of those asking under $50.
  • A blue check went with a price about 32% higher than unverified accounts of the same size, almost all of it at 1K to 2.5K followers. Accounts under a year old sold 28% below the typical price for their size.
  • The median account got its buyer 7.4 days after listing; escrow from opened deal to completed sale took a median 38.9 hours.
  • Popular "how much is my Twitter account worth" pages put a 10,000-follower account at $200 to $7,807.80; in completed sales, accounts with 10K to 20K followers went for a median $120.

How much does an X account sell for by follower count?

An X account with 1,000 to 2,500 followers sold for a median $60, one with 5,000 to 10,000 followers for $86.50, and one with 10,000 to 20,000 followers for $120. Accounts with 20,000 or more followers sold for a median $220 across 11 sales. The middle 50% column matters as much as the median: in every row the 75th percentile sale was about two to six times the 25th percentile sale, so follower count alone leaves a wide range.

Completed PlayerSells escrow sales of X accounts, May 21 to October 19, 2026 (187 sales). Followers as recorded on the listing when it sold. The live price page splits the top row into 20K to 50K (6 sales) and 50K and up (5 sales); this article merges them so that every row holds at least 10 sales.

One seller shapes the 1K to 2.5K row. 28 of the 187 sales were accounts sold by the PlayerSells store itself, at set prices of $80 to $400, 20 of them in that range. Without the store, the 1K to 2.5K median is $25 rather than $60, and the overall median is $40 rather than $60. Every other row moves by $7.50 or less.

How much is 1,000 followers worth on X?

Across sales of accounts with 1,000 or more followers, buyers paid a median $14.67 per 1,000 followers, but no single rate fits every size. The rate falls at every step up the table: from $35.48 per 1,000 at 1K to 2.5K followers to $6.93 per 1,000 at 20K and up, about five times less. Put the other way, the accounts in the top row had 20.7 times as many followers as the accounts in the 1K to 2.5K row and sold for 3.7 times as much.

Below 1,000 followers the per-follower figure stops meaning much. These accounts sold for a median $15 (median 179 followers), and dividing a floor price by a small follower count gives a large rate. At this size the price does not track the follower count.

The practical reading: a formula that multiplies followers by a fixed rate overprices large accounts. The $35.48 rate of the 1K to 2.5K row, applied to the median account of the top row (39,277 followers), gives about $1,394; accounts in that row sold for a median $220.

How much below the asking price do X accounts sell?

Most do not sell below it at all. 130 of the 187 sales (69.5%) closed at exactly the listing's asking price, 56 (29.9%) closed below it and 1 closed above. When a price was negotiated, the median sale landed 27.9% under the ask, and the middle half of those discounts ran from 15.8% to 40.7%.

Negotiation grows with size. Under 2,500 followers, 16.7% of sales closed below the ask. From 10,000 followers up, 55.9% did, at a median 35.7% off.

Asking price is the price on the listing when the data was read on October 20, 2026. A seller who edited the listing to the agreed figure before the sale shows here as sold at the ask, so the real share of negotiated sales can only be higher.

How far are X account asking prices from what accounts sell for?

Much further than the discount on a closed deal suggests, because expensive listings mostly do not close. The 298 X accounts listed on PlayerSells on October 20, 2026 asked a median $200; the median completed sale was $60. Above 20,000 followers, live listings ask a median $1,175, 5.3 times the $220 that accounts that size sold for.

Does a blue check make an X account sell for more?

Somewhat, and mostly at small sizes. Comparing each sale with the median sale of its follower range, accounts with a blue check sold about 32% higher than accounts without one (37 verified sales against 122 unverified, independent sellers only). Almost all of the gap sits in the 1K to 2.5K range: verified accounts there sold for a median $87.50 (8 sales) against $22 (35 sales). From 2,500 to 10,000 followers, verified and unverified accounts sold for about the same.

2.5K to 5K8$6017$60

10K to 20K7$12516$97.50

Independent sellers only (159 sales; the PlayerSells store is left out because one seller sets its prices). Ranges with fewer than 5 verified sales are not shown. Verified means the account showed a blue check when it was listed.

These are small groups, so read the direction rather than the exact figure. A blue check on X today usually comes from a paid subscription tied to the account's billing, which a buyer has to keep paying for; our article on verification covers what survives a transfer.

Does account age change what an X account sells for?

Accounts younger than one year sold for 28% less than the typical price for their size (53 sales). Accounts one to four years old sold for 14% above it (51 sales) and accounts four years or older right at it (55 sales). Age is measured from the account's creation date to the listing, and the comparison is made inside each follower range, so the gap is not explained by younger accounts simply being smaller.

1 to 4 years511.14$55
4 years or more551.00$60

Independent sellers only. 1.00 means the same price as the median sale in the account's follower range; 0.72 means 28% below it.

How long does it take to sell an X account?

The median X account got its buyer 7.4 days after the listing went live, and the middle half took 2.7 to 15.3 days. 11.2% found a buyer within a day, 48.1% within a week and 85.0% within 30 days; 2.7% waited more than 60 days. Once a buyer opened the deal, escrow took a median 38.9 hours to complete, and 40.1% of deals finished within 24 hours. From listing to completed sale, the median was 9.4 days.

These figures describe accounts that sold. Most listings never do, and the asking price is the strongest predictor of that, as the sell-through table above shows. An earlier PlayerSells article measured time to sale on 145 sales up to September 7, 2026; the larger sample here gives a similar answer.

How do sold prices compare with "how much is my Twitter account worth" estimates?

Most published estimates sit far above what X accounts sold for, and none of the ones we read is drawn from recorded sales. OpenTweet's account worth calculator says so itself: "There is no public index of X account sale prices, so no honest answer is a single number." Here is how four widely read answers compare with the completed sales in this article.

Quotes as published on each page when we read it on October 20, 2026. PlayerSells figures: completed escrow sales of X accounts, May 21 to October 19, 2026.

Much of the gap is a different question. Calculators such as SuperX's price an account by what it could earn from sponsored posts ("A sponsored post price is computed at $20 per 1,000 views, adjusted 0.5x to 2x by engagement rate against a 2% baseline"), and the same page notes that "X accounts can't officially be bought or sold, so there is no true resale market value." A sale price is what a buyer actually paid for the account. ClickToTweet's model of $0.002 to $0.01 per follower is the one estimate we found that lands near our sales for larger accounts: our 20K and up row sold for $6.93 per 1,000 followers, inside that range, while our 1K to 2.5K row, at $35.48 per 1,000, sold above it.

How we measured

Every figure comes from the PlayerSells marketplace database, read on October 20, 2026. A sale is an escrow deal for an X account that reached completed status: the account was handed over and the payment was released to the seller. Cancelled and refunded deals never reach that status. Price is the final amount the buyer paid; the seller's escrow fee comes out of it. Follower count, blue check, account age and asking price are the listing's own fields; while a listing is live they are refreshed from X, and they stop updating when it sells.

The filters are the same as on the live X account prices page. 70 internal records that were created to fill the seller leaderboard, between two PlayerSells staff accounts, are excluded; no other completed X deal is between staff accounts, and none was priced under $1. One sale whose listing had no follower count is left out. That leaves 187 sales, one per listing, from 118 buyers and 90 sellers. Medians and 25th to 75th percentiles are computed without trimming or weighting.

For the blue check and age comparisons, each sale is divided by the median sale of its follower range and the groups are compared on the median of that ratio, using independent sellers only. The aggregate tables are published as open data under CC BY 4.0 in the PlayerSells open data repository. No account, handle, buyer or seller is named anywhere in this article or the data.

Limitations

  • 187 sales is a small sample. Rows with 10 to 25 sales can move noticeably as more deals close; the live page shows the current figures.
  • These are prices on one escrow marketplace. Private deals, other marketplaces and sales outside escrow may close at different prices.
  • Follower counts, blue checks and account age are the values recorded on the listing, not an independent audit of the audience. Bots and inactive followers cannot be separated out.
  • Asking prices are read from the listing on October 20, 2026. A seller who changed the price during a negotiation shows as sold at the ask.
  • 28 sales came from the PlayerSells store at set prices; they are in the main tables, as on the live page, and left out of the blue check and age comparisons.
  • The comparisons are observational. A blue check or an older account may go together with other things buyers pay for, such as a better handle or more engagement.
  • Above 20,000 followers there are only 11 sales, so the top row is a rough guide, not a price list.

Frequently asked questions

How much is an X account with 10,000 followers worth?

In completed PlayerSells sales from May to October 2026, accounts with 10,000 to 20,000 followers sold for a median $120, with the middle half between $55 and $165 (23 sales). Accounts with 5,000 to 10,000 followers sold for a median $86.50.

How much is an X account with 1,000 followers worth?

How much do X accounts sell for per follower?

There is no single rate. The median sale paid $35.48 per 1,000 followers at 1,000 to 2,500 followers and $6.93 per 1,000 at 20,000 and up. Across all sales of accounts with 1,000 or more followers the median was $14.67 per 1,000.

Do X accounts sell for their asking price?

Most do: 69.5% of completed sales closed at the asking price. The rest closed a median 27.9% below it, and accounts above 10,000 followers were negotiated more often. Listings priced far above recent sales mostly do not sell: of listings with at least 30 days on the market, 6.1% of those asking $500 or more sold.

Where can I see current X account sale prices?

The X account prices page recalculates the follower table, niche table and age table from every completed PlayerSells sale every six hours.

Is buying or selling an X account allowed?

That is a question of X's own rules rather than of law in most places, and X can act against accounts it believes changed hands. Our article on platform rules against the law covers it.
