How the Instagram counter works

Synced with Instagram
Every 60 seconds while the page is open.
Between readings
The number moves at the account's recent pace, from our daily history and the session's readings. It runs one reading behind, so a new reading continues the count instead of correcting it, and a reading that comes in a little lower makes it pause, not step back.
Source
Read live from the public Instagram profile. Exact follower count, synced once a minute, a slower cycle than most platforms here.
Precision
Each reading is the exact integer Instagram publishes; only the digits between readings are estimated.
Shared readings
One reading serves everyone watching the same account, so a popular counter costs Instagram no extra requests.
History
Accounts in our Instagram directory show their daily follower history under the counter, and their pace comes from it.
Failed readings
The counter stops on the last measured value and labels it. It never keeps running past a reading that did not come in.

Instagram counter FAQ

How do I see an Instagram follower count live?
Type the username into the box at the top of this page and press Watch live. The counter opens on its own page, reads Instagram every 60 seconds and moves smoothly between readings. It works for any public Instagram account.
How often does the Instagram follower count update?
It syncs with Instagram every 60 seconds while the page is open, and in between the number moves at the account's recent pace, one reading behind, so it does not run ahead of the measurements. One reading is shared by everyone watching the same account, which is what keeps the counter free to use.
Why is the count different from the Instagram app?
The Instagram app rounds large follower counts, so it shows 1.2M or 679M. This counter lands on the exact integer from the public profile at every reading. The two agree; the app just drops the last digits. Between readings the last digits are estimated, one reading behind, so the counter does not run ahead of the measurements, and when a reading fails it stops on the last measured value with a label.
Who has the most followers on Instagram?
In our Instagram directory the largest is Instagram (@instagram) with 686,336,276 followers at the last daily reading. Open its live counter on this page to watch the current number.
Do I need an Instagram login to use the counter?
No. The counter reads public Instagram data, so it needs no Instagram login, no PlayerSells account and no app. It is free.
