How is the Instagram engagement rate calculated?

For each account we read the 12 most recent public posts and average their likes and comments, then divide by follower count: (average likes + average comments) / followers x 100. It is measured from real posts rather than estimated from follower count, and it is recalculated every time the account is refreshed.

What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?

Below 0.5% is low, 0.5-1.5% is average, 1.5-3.5% is good and above 3.5% is high. Large accounts genuinely engage at lower rates than small ones, so compare an account against others of a similar size rather than against the whole list.

How often is the directory updated?

Follower counts, post counts and engagement are refreshed continuously on a cadence set by account size, and the rankings and growth charts update along with them.

Are adult accounts listed?

No. Accounts flagged as adult/NSFW are excluded from the directory.
