A two-day-old video with ten million views can sit below a six-hour-old video with two hundred thousand, and the views per hour column on this page is the closest visible proxy for why.
YouTube builds a separate chart per market, and it is genuinely separate rather than a filter on one global list. Music dominates some markets and gaming or news dominates others, which the category mix under the board makes visible. There is no worldwide YouTube trending chart to show.
The video's view count divided by the hours since it was published. It is a rough measure of velocity and nothing more: views are not distributed evenly across a video's life, so a video that had a huge first hour and then flattened reads the same as one climbing steadily.
