Referral Earnings Math: What 10, 50 and 100 Referrals Pay
Worked arithmetic on the PlayerSells referral rates: what 5 to 100 referrals pay, how the tiers change it, and how many signups a target needs.
If five different people you referred each complete a $1,000 account sale on PlayerSells, you earn $187.50. If fifty do, you earn $2,437.50. If a hundred do, you earn $5,062.50. Those are arithmetic on the published rates, not a forecast, and this article shows every step so you can rerun it with your own numbers.
The rates come from the affiliate program: you receive 25%, 30% or 35% of the platform fee on every order your referrals complete, and the fee on an account sale is 15% of the price. For the mechanics behind those numbers, read how the referral commissions work. Here the goal is different: to see what volume it takes to earn a given amount, and which assumptions decide the answer.
The formula for one order
Commission = platform fee x your tier share, rounded down to the cent. The platform fee comes from the fee table, so the sale price matters only through the fee. The table below uses the fees published at the time of writing; the Pricing page has the current values.
| Order type | Fee rule | Effective rate of price at Starter | Partner | Elite |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Social media account | 15%, min $2.50, cap $750 | 3.75% | 4.50% | 5.25% |
| Steam item (CS2, Rust) | 5%, min $0.10, cap $500 | 1.25% | 1.50% | 1.75% |
| Promotion service | 10%, min $1.00 | 2.50% | 3.00% | 3.50% |
Read the effective rates as a quotable shortcut: an account sale pays a Starter partner about 3.75 cents per dollar of sale price, until the $750 fee cap applies at a $5,000 sale. Skin trades pay far less per dollar than account sales, which matters for planning, as the next sections show.
What one order pays, by order size
| Order | Platform fee | Starter (25%) | Partner (30%) | Elite (35%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Account, $250 | $37.50 | $9.37 | $11.25 | $13.12 |
| Account, $1,000 | $150.00 | $37.50 | $45.00 | $52.50 |
| Account, $2,500 | $375.00 | $93.75 | $112.50 | $131.25 |
| Account, $5,000 or more | $750.00 | $187.50 | $225.00 | $262.50 |
| Item, $80 | $4.00 | $1.00 | $1.20 | $1.40 |
| Item, $500 | $25.00 | $6.25 | $7.50 | $8.75 |
| Promotion, $50 | $5.00 | $1.25 | $1.50 | $1.75 |
| Promotion, $250 | $25.00 | $6.25 | $7.50 | $8.75 |
Two things stand out. First, the fee cap flattens the top end: a $5,000 account and a $50,000 account pay the same commission, so the sweet spot for the affiliate is the mid-priced account, not the extreme one. Second, one $1,000 account sale pays as much as about 37 skin orders at $80 each (at Starter, $37.50 divided by $1.00).
How the tiers change the math as you grow
Your tier depends on how many distinct referrals have already produced a commission for you when an order is booked. Zero to four active referrals means Starter, five to nineteen means Partner, and twenty or more means Elite. Only different people count: one referral placing ten orders is still one active referral.

That has a practical effect on scenario math. The first five referrals to trade each pay at 25%, the next fifteen pay at 30%, and everything after that pays at 35%. The tier is not applied retroactively: orders booked before you crossed a threshold keep the rate they were booked at.
Scenario: N referrals, each completing one $1,000 account sale
This is the cleanest way to see the ladder work, because it isolates the tier effect. Every referral is a different person and each completes exactly one $1,000 account sale, either as buyer or seller.

| Referrals who traded | Orders at Starter | At Partner | At Elite | Total earned |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 5 x $37.50 | 0 | 0 | $187.50 |
| 10 | 5 x $37.50 | 5 x $45.00 | 0 | $412.50 |
| 20 | 5 x $37.50 | 15 x $45.00 | 0 | $862.50 |
| 50 | 5 x $37.50 | 15 x $45.00 | 30 x $52.50 | $2,437.50 |
| 100 | 5 x $37.50 | 15 x $45.00 | 80 x $52.50 | $5,062.50 |
Going from 50 to 100 traded referrals adds $2,625, which is 50 orders at the Elite rate of $52.50. Growth is linear once you reach Elite. The tiers reward reaching 20 traded referrals, but past that point every additional trader is worth the same.
Repeat orders are where lifetime commissions matter
The scenario above counts one order per referral. In practice a referral who trades once often trades again, and every one of those orders pays. The program has no expiry, so a referral from this year still pays on an order placed three years from now, as long as both accounts exist.
Add repeat behavior with a simple multiplier. If a referral places on average two completed $1,000 account orders instead of one, the totals above double. If the average is 1.3, multiply by 1.3. Nobody can hand you that average in advance, so treat it as a number you measure from your own referral list in the Earn Money ledger after a few months.
Working backwards: how many signups do you need?
The volume you need depends on a conversion rate that only you can observe. Here is the framework, with the assumptions marked as yours to fill in.
Signups needed = target income / (share of signups who trade x average commission per trader).
| Your assumption: share of signups who trade | Signups needed for $1,000 at Starter, $37.50 per trader |
|---|---|
| 5% | about 533 |
| 10% | about 267 |
| 20% | about 134 |
| 50% | about 54 |
The percentages are illustrative inputs, not measured PlayerSells figures. The point is the shape: the trade rate matters far more than raw signup count. Doubling the share of signups who trade halves the audience you need. That is why intent-heavy placements, described in the link placement guide, beat broad reach.
When both sides were referred: the 60% ceiling
If the buyer and the seller were referred by different partners, both earn on the same order, but together they cannot receive more than 60% of the fee. Two Elite partners on a $150 fee would each earn $52.50 alone ($105 combined), which is above the $90 ceiling, so each is paid $45.00. Two partners at 30% or below never reach the ceiling.

Most orders have at most one referred side, so budget for the single-leg numbers and treat a two-referrer order as a rare adjustment.
What the arithmetic leaves out
- Refunded orders pay nothing. The commission is booked only after the order completes and the fee is final.
- Your own orders never pay. Referring yourself or your alternate accounts earns nothing.
- Fees can change. The fee table is set by PlayerSells and can move for future orders. Commissions already credited are never revised.
- Withdrawal costs. Withdrawals need identity verification once, a $5 minimum and a small fee, so very small balances are better spent on boosts or purchases than withdrawn one at a time.
- Your costs. If you pay for ads or tools to bring traffic, subtract that from commission income. The growth simulator can help model an audience you are building.
The Earn Money page includes a calculator where you type a price and see what one order pays at your tier, using the live fee table. If you refer sellers of accounts, the valuation calculator helps you sanity check the prices your audience is likely to see.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much can you earn with the PlayerSells affiliate program?
There is no ceiling, but income depends on how many of your referrals trade. As arithmetic: 10 referrals each completing one $1,000 account sale earn $412.50, and 100 earn $5,062.50, with the tier rising from 25% to 35% as your referrals trade.
How much does one referred account sale pay?
A $1,000 account sale carries a $150 fee. You receive 25% ($37.50), 30% ($45.00) or 35% ($52.50) of it depending on your tier. The fee is capped at $750, so any sale of $5,000 or more pays a Starter partner $187.50.
How many referrals do I need to reach the higher tiers?
Five different referrals who have each produced a commission move you to Partner (30%). Twenty move you to Elite (35%). Only distinct people count, and the new rate applies to orders booked after you reach the threshold.
Do skin trades or account sales pay more?
Account sales pay far more per order. A Starter partner earns 3.75% of an account's price but 1.25% of a skin's price. One $1,000 account sale pays the same as roughly 37 skin orders of $80, so item audiences depend on volume and repeat trading.
Do commissions keep paying after the first order?
Yes. Every completed order your referral places pays, for as long as both accounts exist. There is no 30-day or 12-month cutoff.
Can I estimate my own numbers?
Yes. Multiply the fee for your typical order by your tier share, then by your expected number of trading referrals and their average orders. Use the calculator on the Earn Money page to check the per-order figure against the live fee table.
