One yet-to-be-told detail of Mr. Wale Edun’s removal is the fact that since after Asiwaju became president, younger technocrats like new Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele & NRS (former FIRS) Chairman Zacch Adedeji have earned more of the President's trust and reliance over and above Edun. Edun never liked that. And so you could tell where the direction was going- that Edun would be the one to go. Those security forces from military, police & intelligence who got this rescue done in Oyo State yesterday have given all of us not just a big relief, but actually a new expectation. Only weeks ago, I was lamenting that one can't even remember a dramatic rescue! Now we got one. Let this be a turning point, O LORD! And fair is fair, @officialABAT ie President Tinubu deserves kudos for this one, alongside all our security agencies. Kudos to @seyimakinde ie Oyo State Governor as well. Now, let's make this rescue the new way to go, defeat the evil forces and quell the fear in the land, because we can do it. Congratulations, Nigeria will prevail!

LET PROF. AMUPITAN & INEC HEAR THIS Please let’s understand what is happening between INEC, APC & ADC ahead of 2027 presidential and general elections. If you are following the controversy between the ruling party, APC and the main opposition, ADC, regarding next year’s general elections, please understand that it’s being driven by sheer personal and selfish interests of some among our political elite. Don’t ever make the mistake that there are deep ideological or even profound patriotism driving it. We are simply not there yet. May be some Monday for sure, we would. Let me give a picture of where political power elites are in Nigeria today: Former President Atiku Abubakar who destroyed PDP by assaulting a national consensus on rotational presidency is now accusing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of orchestrating one party state in Nigeria. Ie The president under whose watch INEC leadership is behaving as though they don’t understand that their role as umpire requires total neutrality. E wo le wo? Which is which? In terms of real commitment to higher ideals and outright desire for a new Nigeria, and when you measure their levels of individual patriotic commitment, the difference is not particularly significant between President Tinubu & former VP Atiku. Truly. Both of them belong to the school of thought that with political power, the ends justify the means. They both see power as the end, and not so much what power ought to deliver to the people. They are not significantly different about regard to the Nigerian people & their sensibilities. However, their tactics and strategies might differ, here & there. Let us see Another example. The folks in ADC who are now insinuating or asking for independence of INEC from the President, such as David Mark and Aminu Tambuwal were themselves Senate President and House of Representatives Speaker before now, for a good amount of time, especially Mark. Why didn't they do it then? The point is, for these our political elites, it’s often not about the principle but their own political advantage. Now having made that clear, our quest for a new Nigeria is far more important and greater than all those monkey business. So we must proceed regardless of their antics and shenanigans to take sides on any matter that may influence the future of our country, such as the issue on ground now. We must separate partisan narratives from the main issues of the day. For instance, the issue of INEC withdrawing it’s recognition of ADC leadership at a time when PDP is already in the doldrums is not a partisan fight. It is a fight for the soul of Nigeria. This is simple to figure out, because if we want a democracy, then we must side with democratic conduct regardless of the awkward and absurd games our political elites play. We must raise our voices together as a people on the top of the mountain that a democracy requires a vibrant opposition and when that is being seeming rigged out, those of us who are outside of politics must stand up and say No! And we can do it. We must do it, especially when INEC is performing a mumbo jumbo with a Court ruling, by its resolve to withdraw its recognition of the leaders of ADC. THIS is the view of lawyers we can trust such as Femi Falana, SAN, on the matter; Hear Falana: “I say that INEC is wrong because the order granted by the court is to grant an injunction status quo ante bellum. What that means is before the dispute, who was in charge ….but that ruling has now been misinterpreted to favor the ruling party. When they say APC & Tinubu are trying to turn Nigeria into a one party state, no, our courts and senior lawyers are to blame.” By the way most Nigerians don’t know that some senior lawyers get paid for some of this political Briefs by chieftains of competing parties. So don’t be surprised if the person paying the Bala Nafiu case against ADC is from another party! This type of chicanery and deception happens only in Nigeria!

DOTUN OLADIPO: A JOURNALISM ICON TAKEN TOO SOON By Ismail Omipidan We all know that death is inevitable. But some deaths raise more questions than answers. They say regular exercise keeps us fit. I know the late Dotun Oladipo did a lot of that. In fact, a senior colleague told me he was at the gym with his wife as by 11am yesterday. Yet, reports say he later died of a heart attack. If he had not been exercising, some of us would have blamed it on a lack of fitness. The point I am making is simple-let us all live our lives the best way we can. When it is time to go, no power can stop it. And when the time has not come, no mortal can hasten it. It will come when it must. If death were deliberately selective, Oga Dotun should not have been the one to go yesterday, barely a year after surviving a near-death experience. Only about a year ago, I read his account of how he and his family escaped the Otedola Bridge tanker fire in which he lost his mechanic. Anyone who read that piece would see the hand of God at work. He escaped because that was not his appointed time. Who would have thought that just a year after enjoying that rare grace, he would be gone? But this is where God’s power is superior to ours. Forget those who claim to have power over life and death. Whatever they do is mere coincidence. Not even a leaf falls from a tree without the knowledge and permission of God, our Creator, Protector, and Sustainer. Oga Dotun was a very kind and accommodating senior in the journalism profession. Our paths first crossed at The Sun in my early years there, when he was our Online Consultant. We met again at the Journalists’ Hangout Table at TVC. I only got to know about six years ago that he is from Osun State, like me. He was very supportive during my time as Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Osun State. We last spoke last Saturday, reviewing the August 15 Osun governorship election and its outcome. Egbon, your counsel on The Sun matter is well noted, and I promise you I will follow it. Adieu, my good Egbon. May Allah grant your wife, children, and the rest of the family the courage and fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

President Trump, Congressmen Chris Smith & Riley Moore are among those to be honored on the American side, while Pastor Adeboye leads the Nigerian side.
