82’de tanışmış, 87’de dost olmuştuk. Sonra uzun yıllar upuzun sohbetlerimiz, ortak etkinliklerimiz, bitişik stantlarda imza günlerimiz, (87’de ilk kez onu Diyarbakır’a davetimle -ömründe ilk kez uçağa binip- geldiğinde kırık dökük bir araçla Veysel Öngören’in Bismil‘deki Hacıkan köyüne o gidişimiz), Ankara yıllarımda arkadaş evlerinde geç saatlere sarkan sohbetlerimiz, sarhoş gecelerimiz, zaman zaman kırgınlıklarımız; sonra tek kişilik evlerimize dönen şair yalnızlıklarımız…Ankara’da kurduğu yayınevinde kendi kitaplarını sırtında taşırken, 2005’te koluna girip onu Everest Yayınları’na : “Artık kitap taşıma, sen otur yaz!” diyerek götürüşüm daha dün gibi... Tam da o yıl derin kırılmıştım ona; buna rağmen dostluğumuzu 2020 yılına kadar süründürüp, sündürüp sürdürdük…Son altı yıldır onunla konuşmuyordum; nedenlerini kimseye açıklamak yükümlülüğüm yok kuşkusuz; fakat hastalığını öğrenince birkaç ay önce telefonuna “acil şifalar” dileklerimi yazmıştım. O da içtenlikle cevaplamıştı “kardeşim” diye biten cümlesiyle. Hastalığı söz konusu olunca kırgınlığın buzlarını bir çırpıda parçalamıştık. Bu akşam vefatını öğrenince içimde bir çınar devrildi; otuz yıl paylaştığımız onca şeyin hatırı çok, geçmişin hatırı çoktur Ahmet abi…Uğurlar olsun şair, haldaşım…Çok sürmez yakında biz de geliriz gittiğin o bilinmez yıldızlar ülkesine. Telefonla her arayışımda “Ben seninle her zaman gurur duydum Yılmaz‘ım” diyen hesapsız, hakiki, gerçek abimdin. Ben, yokluğunda uçurum gibi bir boşluğa düştüm; dağsız, abisiz kaldım...
