Bold for @nyt to call Google an "AI also-ran." I am not sure I agree. I think it misses that there are many games to play in AI. And not everyone is playing the same game. Also, two months ago, people were calling OpenAI an "also-ran." But not now. If you think the AI horse race is months-long, not years-long, you are missing what's really happening.

Even when AI alone is superior, significant barriers to implementation remain. Nonetheless, superior autonomous AI will likely be ready to be deployed for real-world cognitive medical tasks in some, maybe many, workflows by 2030.
