Unite the union: join a union engagement report
@unitetheunion - 96K followers on X
Measured over 42 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on September 15, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 22 interactions against 96K followers, an engagement rate of 0.022%. Measured over 42 original posts, its engagement rate beats 27% of 20,689 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 2.3K times each, and 0.929% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 2.40% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 2.2 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on almost every day in the window. Most posts go out around 15:00 UTC, and Tuesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 42 posts sampled, 93% carry an image or video and 40% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 711 interactions, about 32x its own typical post. Recurring topics include #jobspayconditions, #tuc2026, #knowyourrights.

Compared with accounts its own size
Unite the union: join a union's engagement rate beats 27% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,689 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 7 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 39% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.022%, Unite the union: join a union sits above the 10th percentile of the 208,784 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.025%.
Show the percentile table
| Percentile | Engagement rate |
|---|---|
| 10th percentile | 0.004% |
| 25th percentile | 0.025% |

| 75th percentile | 0.685% |
| 90th percentile | 2.58% |
| 99th percentile | 82.6% |

Formats this account uses
Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.
| Format | This account | Catalog effect | 95% interval | Accounts behind it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image or video | 93% of posts | +111% | +108% to +115% | 34K |
| Outbound link | 40% of posts | -41% | -42% to -40% | 32K |
| Typical length | - | +15% | +14% to +16% | 32K |
- 93% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
- 40% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts, so a large share of this account's output sits in the weakest bucket we measure.
- Its average post runs 489 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.
These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

In defence of Gary Stevenson, by @OliDugmore This I know: the United Kingdom is in the grip of an economic sickness. When the Sunday Times began compiling its Rich List in 1989, the 200 wealthiest families in Britain owned wealth equivalent to about 5 per cent of GDP. Today, the same group owns the equivalent of 25 per cent. In Spain, as the Hormuz oil crisis deepened, energy prices decreased thanks to a sprawling solar network. Following the wettest winter on record, the gardens of more than 20 million people in Britain are labouring under a hosepipe ban. This might be connected to the fact that the owners of our water companies have preferred to relentlessly pay themselves dividends, and indebt their companies in the process, than invest in infrastructure and build some reservoirs. Imagine that: building a single reservoir since 1992. Imagine that: abundant green energy. Imagine that: a wealth tax. Now, imagine a world in which you proportionally pay less tax if you are wealthy. A world where idiots like you and me pay a percentage of our income, perhaps more than 50 per cent of it, to the tax man because we earn instead of own. A world where on occasion men worth $18 billion receive $4,000 in child tax credits, as Jeff Bezos did in 2011. Well you don’t need to imagine it because it’s the world we live in. And therefore I don’t think it’s crazy to suggest that wealthy people should pay their fair share of tax, let’s say a minimum every year, like, as Stevenson suggests, 2 per cent of their total holdings. https://t.co/zu1X6Jq3fd

A wealth tax is possible, but the new government leadership must have the drive to implement it. The top 50 richest families in the UK now hold more wealth than half of the population, (34 million people). In 2024, the two richest UK billionaires held more wealth between them than all the billionaires in the 1990 rich list COMBINED. Meanwhile, public services are crumbling and wealth inequality widens. It’s time for real change. General Secretary Sharon Graham #wealthtax #taxtherich #wealthinequality #Ukpolitics #government

Hundreds of companies including big household names, including B&Q, Five Guys, Pizza Hut, Forest Holidays and the Whitbread Group have been named and shamed after failing to pay workers the National Minimum Wage. £4 million in lost wages has been repaid to more than 27,000 workers across 658 companies. B&Q alone was reported to have failed to pay £456,934 to 4,530 workers. Workers shouldn't have to fight to get the wages they're legally entitled to. Underpaying workers isn't a harmless mistake it's money taken out of workers' pockets. The Government says it will publish these lists more regularly and is stepping up enforcement against employers who break the law. When major companies can shortchange staff, it’s key every worker know their rights to challenge unfair treatment, defend their rights and fight for better pay and conditions. Every worker deserves to be paid properly. Every time. ✊ #uknews #union #workersrights #minimumwage

Trade unionists were spied on, lost their jobs, never worked again. Women were deceived into having sexual relationships and even children with men they thought were activists, friends, allies. They were police spies. The current Chair of the Undercover Policing Inquiry reties at the end of the year and the Home Office is ‘consulting’ on whether to carry on with the Inquiry. The work of the Inquiry – into deceitful ,and possibly criminal, activity by police officers – is far from complete. The official consultation is a multiple-choice questionnaire that campaigners call ‘limited in scope’. But they have made a handy tool so you can email the Home Office directly. Council workers keep our communities running every single day 🤝 From collecting our bins and maintaining our streets to supporting children in schools and caring for vulnerable people - they deliver the services we all rely on. After years of below-inflation pay deals and pay freezes, they're now being offered another real-terms pay cut. Unite national officer for local authorities Clare Keogh shares why after years of being ignored, workers must use their voice 📣 Stand with council workers as they fight for the fair pay they deserve. #FairPay #CouncilWorkers #LocalGovernment #union #strike

💰“There has never been a better time to be a billionaire” says @Forbes There are now 3,428 billionaires in the world, up 400 on 2025. Instead of being taxed the super-rich are spanking this wealth on super yachts. There are 210,000 of them bobbing about the seas, costing between $500,000 and a billion. The running cost of one mega gin palace could fully fund the employment of 300 NHS nurses!

After months of campaigning by @unitelondonandeastern, all London bus driver cabs will be fitted with air conditioning by May 2027✊ This summer, temperatures inside some bus cabs soared up to 50°C as most London buses currently rely on cheap and ineffective cooling systems that can lower temperatures by just 2–3°C during a heatwave, leaving drivers suffering from heatstroke, dehydration and fatigue. Our members said enough was enough and we took action. Now, @Transport for London and London’s bus operators have committed to: ❄️ Air conditioning in all drivers’ cabs by May 2027 ☀️ UV protective film to reduce the risk of skin cancer This is a major win for bus drivers and proof that when workers organise and fight, they can win real improvements to working conditions. 💪 Now progress has been made with TfL, Unite will be keeping up the pressure to make sure these changes are delivered and that drivers don’t have to suffer through another summer. Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This concession from @TfL is an important win in Unite’s campaign to improve conditions for bus drivers in London and beyond. Unite will continue to fight for all bus workers to be kept safe and to be treated with dignity and respect.” When workers stand together, we can win. ✊ #tfl #transportforlondon #busdriver #busdrivers #londonlife

We will not accept NHS staff wages being suppressed to save the #NHS money. We need a properly funded NHS where workers are respected. We will escalate this dispute until @MaudsleyNHS give these workers their fair share. https://t.co/2dUoWIyDuK

Thousands of local authorities workers across the country are being balloted for strike action after rejecting another real-terms pay cut ✂️ After years of below-inflation pay rises, pay freezes, and employers refusing to negotiate, council workers have had enough. These are the people who keep our communities running. Workers across councils in England and Wales are now voting on industrial action, with ballots open until 17 August. Remember to put in your ballot and share with you colleagues. It's time for fair pay for the workers who keep our communities running. ✊ #FairPay #LocalGovernment #CouncilWorkers #PayRise #StrikeBallot

- What is Unite the union: join a union's engagement rate on X?
- Unite the union: join a union (@unitetheunion) has an engagement rate of 0.022%, based on the median interactions across 42 original posts from the last 30 days against 96,249 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.022%, Unite the union: join a union sits above the 10th percentile of the 208,784 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @unitetheunion have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 27% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,689 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @unitetheunion post?
- Most posts go out around 15:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day, at roughly 2.23 posts per day across the measured window.
