Early reading. We have captured 2 original posts for this account, below the 8 we require before treating a median as settled. The numbers above describe what we have seen so far, not a finished profile of the account.

A typical post picks up 719 interactions against 1.4M followers, an engagement rate of 0.05%. Posts are seen about 70K times each, and 1.02% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 4.87% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.1 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 7% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 04:00 UTC, and Wednesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 2 posts sampled, 50% carry an image or video and 100% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 27K interactions, about 37x its own typical post. Only 2 original posts have been captured so far, fewer than the 8 posts we want behind a median before treating it as settled. Read the figures above as an early measurement of this account, not as a finished profile of it.

This account posts most often around 04:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

  • 50% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
  • 100% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts, so a large share of this account's output sits in the weakest bucket we measure.
  • Its average post runs 363 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

Google which is cash surplus, just announced an additional capital raise of $80 bn. Google annual profit is $160 bn, last quarter $62 bn, and market cap $4.5 trillion. That is close to total profits and market cap of all Indian listed companies put together. It’s a wake up call to all companies to invest into the future, whatever the present maybe. Now that IPL is done and dusted, time for India to focus on business of business.

I am humbled and honoured to be conferred the Padma Bhushan. The India of today is unrecognisable from the one I was born in. The journey has been exhilarating. On this Republic Day, we stand at the fork of many roads. I choose the path of karma with a sense of paranoia, with aspiration but conscious of ground realities. I have deep conviction that we, the people will make India even greater. We have miles to go before we sleep…

#MYMODISTORY Every interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been an experience filled with learning and inspiration. What strikes me most is the way he blends vision with execution, curiosity with humility. Over the years, I have had several opportunities to engage with him, and each occasion has left me with insights into his remarkable leadership style. One of the strongest impressions is his deep passion for Vibrant Gujarat. I have been attending the summit for long , and each time I have had the privilege of a one-on-one meeting with him. Our discussions would always center on development and how India could transform into a stronger, more dynamic nation. I also had the opportunity to travel with him overseas during his tenure as Chief Minister. His curiosity was remarkable. He would visit a new country, and learn something new. On many occasions, he shared his observations and insights from those trips. One incident stands out clearly. During a meeting in Ahmedabad, he told me about his visit to Japan, where he had noticed braille trail on the roads leading up to the railway station. He explained how a visually impaired person could walk independently and safely using those tiles. He was so impressed by the idea that upon returning to Gujarat, he implemented the same concept at Kankariya in Ahmedabad, where it remains visible today. That small example shows his attention to detail, his focus on execution, and his commitment to inclusive development. Whenever he visited a foreign country, he was eager to learn best practices and adapt them for the betterment of Gujarat and India. This relentless hunger to learn, adapt, and improve continues to inspire his vision for India as a developed nation. @narendramodi @themodistory #HappyBdayPMModi

My year end musings. A Financial Sector Model for India’s dream: 9% annual growth, $30 trillion GDP by 2047. India is transforming from a nation of savers to investors. The tussle between the saver/ borrower and issuer/ investor model is underway. In the early 80s, the Indian saver had low confidence in financial assets versus gold and land. Slowly the saver moved some part to bank deposits, UTI and LIC. Even in the 90s, investing in equities was considered “speculative”. Hence companies looking for capital went to the foreign institutional investor (FII). FIIs saw potential and bought into companies while the Indian saver stayed away. Companies raised capital through the less known Luxembourg stock exchange. India’s capital market was being exported. Some of us highlighted this phenomenon to SEBI. That began the private placement market (QIP) in early 2000s. Hence FIIs could also buy on Indian markets. The Indian saver’s interest in markets improved after the global financial crisis. That saver is now savouring the joys of investing. Mutual fund platforms, cash equities and derivatives markets, insurance funds, global private equity in India, other platforms like AIFs, lower tax regime for equity, have all converted a saver to an investor. How do we create a sustained growth story hereon? 1.Many investors have joined post Covid. They have mainly seen upside. While the situation is not comparable at present, we need to keep Japan of the 80s at the back of our mind. Its Nikkei Index peak was 1989. 34 years later with near zero interest rates, the Nikkei is still below its 1989 peak. We must avoid bubbles through policy, regulation, education, and supply of quality paper. Companies should raise equity at lower cost of capital for productive use. 2.While we must avoid tax arbitrage in debt, unless debt markets grow it will be a one legged race. The current gap on highest marginal tax rate between debt and equity of 39% and 10% is perhaps too wide. 3.Double taxation on dividends needs relook. A shareholder is like a partner. There is no additional tax when money is moved from the partnership to the partners capital account. Same principle applies to shareholders. 4. Low cost leverage through derivatives can distort financial markets. This needs attention. https://t.co/M1heYN2OvA savers become investors the banking sector faces challenges on its deposits and cost of funds. The large corporate sector has to meaningfully move to capital markets (debt and equity) and away from banks. Banks will become distributors of corporate debt rather than storage houses. They will need to penetrate mid sized corporates, MSMEs and consumers. 6. We should avoid a retrospective tax and regulatory regime. We will need to balance developmental and regulatory role. 7. Two areas which need urgent focus for India’s aspiration are acquisition financing and streamlining of the IBC/ NCLT process. As India aspires, the financial sector will be the key engine for delivery. Impact of technology is a separate subject of discussion for a future date. The saver/ borrower and the issuer/ investor models will coexist. It is time for a wholistic financial sector view.

SpaceX IPO, listing, and beyond, is a true test for capitalism. The valuation does not fit any traditional matrix and is a huge bet on the future course of planet earth. Only time will tell whether we, the human race, have arrived into the fairy tale world we grew up in as children, or are in a mega bubble. Either ways, kudos to the man who came as an immigrant, and to the country that has allowed such boundless creativity to flourish despite all the risks it embeds.

₹@90. The proximate reason: foreign selling of Indian stocks both FPI & PE under FDI. Indian investors buying. Time will tell who is smarter. For now foreigners seem smarter. 1 year nifty $ return is 0. But this a long game. Time for Indian business to shake out of comfort zone.
