كتب #مقبل_بن_عبدالعزيز_الذكير رحمه الله- ت:١٣٦٣هـ تاريخه (مطالع السعود في اخبار نجد وآل سعود) والعقود الدرية في تاريخ البلاد النجدية ونبذته التاريخية وجميعها نُشرت في خزانة التواريخ النجدية للبسام وقد امتازت تواريخه بدقة وصف الأحداث التي عاصرها ، هو من المدرسة التاريخية التحليلية حيث يسرد الحدث ويعلق عليه ويُبدي رأيه ، وقد يختلف البعض معه ويمتاز كذلك بتنوع مصادره وكثره اطلاعه ونقوله وروايته الشفهية وكذلك نقله من بعض المصادر التاريخية المخطوطة وهو ميّال إلى القراءة السياسية للأحداث ، والتي تُعنى بنقد الروايات والتحقق من مصادرها. وتفسير الأحداث وكذلك دراسة العلاقات بين الوقائع، وتجنب اختزالها في سبب واحد. إضافة إلى بناء الاستنتاجات على الأدلة، مع التمييز بين الخبر ورأي المؤرخ وقد ألمح إلى هذه المزايا وغيرها الدكتور محمد الشويعر رحمه الله مُشيدا بتنوع مصادره، وأنه جمع بين كتب التاريخ والجغرافيا، والمذكرات، والصحف والمجلات. و مناقشة الروايات التاريخية إلا أن الشيخ عبدالله البسام رحمه كان له رأي أدق في هذه التاريخ أشار إليه في الخزانة التاريخية حيث قال 🟠تقييم التاريخ المسودة أرى أن المؤلف لم يأت بجديد إلَّا في بعض المواضع التي في بلدة عنيزة، ففينا بعض التفصيلات، وإبراز أسماء بعض الشخصيات، ولكن الجديد في هذه المودة أنه عرض المواضيع عرفًا جميلا في كثير من مواضعه، وعلل بعض الحوادث تعليلا مقبولاً ، وأنه منتف في روايت، ، فلم يتحيز لطائمة دون طائفة، وإنما يعنى بخدمة الحادثة التاريخية في حقيقتها ، فيبرزها إبرازًا حسنًا . وقد اكتسب هذا العرض الجيد من إدمان قراءته للكتب الأدبية والمجلات الرفيعة الأسلوب، فصار عنده هذا الأسلوب اللذيذ، بخلاف غيره من مؤرخي نجد فإنهم يوردون الخبر جافًا حافًا، لأنه ليس لديه الملكة الإنشائية التي يستطيعون بنا التعبير والتعليل واللّٰه الموفق .)
