Early reading. We have captured 1 original post for this account, below the 8 we require before treating a median as settled. The numbers above describe what we have seen so far, not a finished profile of the account.

A typical post picks up 13 interactions against 401K followers, an engagement rate of 0.003%. Posts are seen about 2.6K times each, and 0.494% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 0.655% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.03 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 3% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 19:00 UTC, and Thursday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 1 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video and 100% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 121K interactions, about 9337x its own typical post. Only 1 original post have been captured so far, fewer than the 8 posts we want behind a median before treating it as settled. Read the figures above as an early measurement of this account, not as a finished profile of it.

Posting timing

This account posts most often around 19:00 UTC, and Thursday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

I miss the innocence of the early blogging days. No trying to monetize your audience. No algorithms. No funnel talk. It was fun and playful. People were genuinely excited to share their weird obsessions and interests. I will forever try to recreate that corner of the internet.

I’ve had many conversations with people trying to solve big city loneliness. Today, someone said: “Oh wow. You’ve built an ACTUAL community. You are lightyears ahead of us. We’re more focused on breadth then depth.” These words struck me. I realized that I’ve been obsessing over how to create deep connections for people since July 2022, when I hosted my first walk here in Austin. I am not solving loneliness with @theboardtalks… I’m creating a lighthouse for curious, kind, open-minded people who love deep chats to find each other. The walk is not for everyone. But it’s life-changing for the right ones. I’ve now hosted 116 walks, every week, and @adele_bloch has hosted 62 in SF. We’ve created a safe space for thousands of people to have millions of conversations with strangers they never would’ve met. Many of these conversations have been life-changing. The walks have inspired people to quit jobs, start companies, launch passion projects, end relationships, move across the world, find truly aligned friend groups, expand their confidence (and sharpen their intuition) with every conversation, and get pulled into a supportive ecosystem of people who end up changing the trajectory of their lives. In many ways, the walks have become a “start here” guide for people moving to or visiting our cities. An espresso shot of connection on Saturday at 8 AM. And a trust network of good people with shared values, vetted (and community managed) by Adele and me on a weekly basis. Over the last 2 years, I have meticulously studied every angle of connection at the walks. What makes it, what breaks it, what needs to be done to make it last for a long time, what needs to be said when people aren’t a fit, how to keep the core culture strong at scale, and literally everything in between. People join the walks an average of 40 times, and they often say “I’ve been looking for this my entire life.” I’ve created a 178-times tested solution for how to create (and maintain) a lasting community that has a significant positive impact on people’s lives. The walk helps people reflect, see their blindspots, and learn new perspectives while getting 10K steps in… while seeing the same faces every week. It feels like a longevity hack, and I genuinely believe that people who come to walks regularly will live longer. I don’t even know why I’m writing this. I guess I feel like I’ve solved depth (aka the hard part), and my next focus is breadth by scaling the walks to new cities. This feels like a special realization, and I’m giddy over it, but what’s stopping me from moving forward is resources. I do have plans to figure this out, but I want to be honest about why we’re only in 2 cities right now: I want to pay walk hosts for their time and effort, but I *also* want the walks to be free, so I have $0 in the walk budget jar. I want to put into the universe: If you know a philanthropist who really cares about longevity, IRL connection and community, building a global trust network based off shared values, and helping people live happier and healthier lives… reach out to me. In my dream world, a values-aligned money stork would drop a fat grant in my lap and let me COOK. If you invest in the walks, your legacy will echo for centuries. ✨
