So I've been waking up every morning at 4am for the last 2 weeks or so, and I wondered what the problem was. Mold? I bought an air purifier - no luck. Allergies? I took a Claritin at night - no luck. Then I remembered my town just switched to LED streetlights. Enraged though I was about that, I hadn't considered that perhaps these damnable, nightmare-style lights might be the cause of my involuntary early wakeups. It's like living inside of a f---- hospital or a prison. The romance of nighttime here in our village has been bleached out, deleted, totally removed. My neighbor said that when the guys came to replace the bulbs, they were preaching about how "it'll be so much easier to see the street when you're driving!" But of course, I spend 8hrs/night sleeping near this street, and maybe 30 seconds a day driving on it. The bulb is 19' from my bedroom window. I have no yard space to plant evergreens, and even if I did, it'd take years to get them to grow that tall. I could install blackout curtains -- but then I can't have a fan in the window, which is essential on summer nights, since we have no A/C. I'm literally so mad I might move house. This feels like a violation, like I'm having my house invaded. All for what? To save a few pennies? The whole country's gone mad, I cannot believe that this is the new world order that's been foisted upon urbanites, townies, and villagers across the whole country.

Many people think money is everything. Men especially. They spend their 20s and 30s trying to collect as much of it as possible like the meaning of their life is whatever number is in their bank account. I think this is incredibly narrow minded and there are tons of other things that matter. Getting married, having kids, and rasing a family. Your physical and mental health, your relationships with the people around you, having hobbies, etc. Life is a culmination of how you spend your days and there are so many epic and important things outside of work. Most of it is about the people you get to know and the experiences you get to have with them. The money enables you to do more of that but it is not the only thing that matters.
