Japan’s ageing #population is creating a growing need for caregivers, while India has a large young #workforce looking for skilled employment opportunities. The proposal to send up to 50,000 Indian caregivers to #Japan over the next four to five years is therefore worth noting. With proper training, language #skills and safeguards for workers, India-Japan cooperation in this area can create #opportunities for our youth while meeting an important need in Japan. All our skilling programmes must tap into such demographic changes in different parts of the world. Our yet-to-be-four-year-old grandson, Karmanya, son of Vaishnavi and Ameya Prabhu , is celebrating our 80th Independence Day with so much joy and enthusiasm. At such a young age, he already loves his country dearly and often speaks about wanting to do something good for society. It is heartwarming to see such thoughts taking shape in a child so young. The Committee on Estimates (2026-2027) has pointed to the sharp decline in the number of #schools and students as we move from primary to higher levels of education.
