ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಇಂದು ಕಲುಷಿತಗೊಂಡಿರುವುದರಿಂದ 2028ರ ವಿಧಾನಸಭಾ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ, ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ರಾಜಕಾರಣದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು, ಜನರ ಕಷ್ಟ, ಸುಖಗಳಿಗೆ ಧ್ವನಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸುವಂತೆ ವರುಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಜನರು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸಬಾರದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಜನರೇ ನಮಗೆ ದುಡ್ಡುಕೊಟ್ಟು ಗೆಲ್ಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ, ಇಂದು ಅಂತಹ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಈಗ ನನಗೆ 79 ವರ್ಷ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಅವಧಿ ಇನ್ನು ಒಂದೂವರೆ ವರ್ಷ ಇದೆ. ಆಗ ನನಗೆ 81-82 ವರ್ಷವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈಗಿನಂತೆ ಆರೋಗ್ಯವೂ ಸದೃಢವಾಗಿ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಿಂದಿನಂತೆ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. 2028ರ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ನನಗೆ 82 ವರ್ಷವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಆಗ ನನ್ನ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ 50 ವರ್ಷಗಳು ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. 1978ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ತಾಲೂಕು ಮಂಡಳಿ ಸದಸ್ಯನಾಗಿ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಜೀವನ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದೆ. ಸೋಲು - ಗೆಲುವು ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಂಬಿದ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ನಡೆದಿಲ್ಲ, ಆತ್ಮಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗೆ ದ್ರೋಹ ಬಗೆದಿಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸಂತೃಪ್ತಿ ನನಗಿದೆ. ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸಿದರೆ ನಾವು ಜನರಿಗೆ ದುಡ್ಡುಕೊಡಬೇಕಾದ ಕಾಲ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ರಾಜಕಾರಣ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಕಲುಷಿತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಉಳಿಗಾಲ್ಲವಿಲ್ಲದಂತಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದಿನ ಚುನಾವಣೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವ ನಿರ್ಧಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಐದು ದಶಕಗಳ ಕಾಲ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಜನತೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಲಹಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಋಣಭಾರ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲಿದೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಮುಂದಿನ ಜೀವನ ಸಹ ಜನಸೇವೆಗೆ ಮುಡಿಪಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. - ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಕೆ.ಆರ್.ಪೇಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶನಿವಾರ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಸಮಾರಂಭವೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡು, ಮಾತನಾಡಿದೆ

I strongly condemn the disgraceful manhandling and detention of the Leader of Opposition Shri @RahulGandhi, Smt. @priyankagandhi and other Congress and Opposition leaders by the Delhi Police near Jantar Mantar today. The manner in which Smt. Priyanka Gandhi was dragged and manhandled by the police is deeply disturbing. The manhandling of other women leaders alongside her makes these scenes even more shameful and unacceptable in a democracy. The Delhi Police functions under Amit Shah’s Union Home Ministry and the Modi Government. The political responsibility for such police action rests with the government in power. For two consecutive days, Opposition leaders have been stopped while demanding answers from the Election Commission over SIR, electoral-roll irregularities and “vote chori”. These questions concern the very foundation of our democracy. They deserve transparency and answers - not barricades, force and detention. The Election Commission must address these concerns openly and restore public confidence in the electoral process. Mr. @narendramodi, the more you try to suppress the dissent, the more we grow. We should have been proud that a Member of Parliament from Karnataka had become the country’s Education Minister. Instead, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appointed Pralhad Joshi - an MP who defended those convicted of raping a woman - leaving Kannadigas ashamed. Pralhad Joshi is no different from outgoing Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Ideologically, they are twins. Both entered politics through the RSS-affiliated ABVP and share the RSS’s outlook towards women, Dalits, the poor, backward communities, Muslims and Christians. That is why Joshi has been brought in to replace Pradhan. Only the face has changed; the direction remains the same. He, too, will act according to the instructions of the RSS. During the Gujarat riots, Bilkis Bano was subjected to gang rape. Pralhad Joshi defended the Gujarat Government’s decision to release those convicted in the case on the grounds of "good conduct" and spoke in their support. Our concern now is what will happen to the country’s education system under a person with such views. Leader of the Opposition @RahulGandhi and MP @priyankagandhi have exposed Pralhad Joshi in the Lok Sabha and placed the truth before the country. Their voices may be silenced inside Parliament, but the voices of crores of people across the country cannot be suppressed. It may not be long before Joshi follows the same path as Dharmendra Pradhan. If Prime Minister @narendramodi has even the slightest concern for teachers and students, he must immediately remove @JoshiPralhad from the Education Ministry and entrust this important portfolio to someone who is genuinely qualified.

Whenever communalism threatens society, we are reminded of Gauri Lankesh and her fearless fight for equality, secularism and harmony. Despite facing criticism, abuse and deeply personal attacks, she remained steadfast in her commitment to the larger good of society. Equality, communal harmony, secularism and freedom of expression were not merely ideals she spoke about - they were values she lived by. It is a tragedy that she ultimately had to lay down her life for those very values. Gauri may no longer be with us, but the spark of resistance she ignited continues to light the path of countless people standing against hatred and injustice.
