Fernando Cerimedo, a top right-wing political operative and business partner of former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, has been arrested in Bolivia in connection with the attempted assassination of his partner, Nadia Bayer, who is allegedly pregnant with his child. Bayer survived being shot by two men disguised as delivery workers, footage of which circulated widely. From her hospital bed, she alleged Cerimedo took $800,000 a month from Argentine President Javier Milei’s operation and ran a machine of bribes and violence. Some of her claims, including ties to US intelligence, remain unverified. Cerimedo co-founded the right-wing outlet La Derecha Diario and was credited with helping engineer right-wing victories across the region, including for Milei. He served as an adviser in Bolivia under President Rodrigo Paz, whose vice president said Cerimedo kept an office near the presidency. Leaked texts reportedly reference removing Bayer before she “caused trouble.” Colombian President Gustavo Petro tied the same network to 500,000 bots he said spread lies during Colombia’s election. The funniest part of this Hasan Piker bullshit is that the full clip is sitting right there. Hasan says the repeated political conflation of American Jews with Israel is dangerous for Jews because eventually anger at Israel gets redirected at American Jews. He literally says this predicament is dangerous for Jews and that it makes antisemitism worse. Somehow Hakeem Jeffries hears “American Jews are inviting violence against themselves.” Cory Booker hears Jews “bear responsibility” for violence against themselves. Josh Gottheimer declares Hasan an antisemite who supposedly “wouldn’t claim otherwise” and wants Congress to fucking censure him. Joe Walsh rewrites it as “keep standing with Israel and there will be violence coming your way.” AIPAC amplifies the Jeffries version. Then the same basic interpretation gets repeated across the center-left, Republicans and media. These are members of Congress, lawyers, Ivy League graduates, professional political operatives and people with entire staffs whose fucking job is to understand words and check facts. The suggestion that Jewish Americans who publicly support Israel bear responsibility for violence against the broader Jewish community is wrong, reckless, and antisemitic. With a platform reaching millions of people, Hasan Piker’s rhetoric that blames Jews for the hatred and violence directed against them gives cover to those committing anti-Jewish hate crimes. We can thoughtfully debate the policies of the Israeli government and American foreign policy, but political disagreement can never justify violence against individuals or their communities. We must unequivocally condemn antisemitism in all its forms and stand with Jewish communities in America and around the world.

Investigative journalist and Drop Site News correspondent @aliyounesUS is facing up to a year in prison in Jordan on national security charges and has been barred by Jordanian authorities from leaving the country over an alleged retweet of an article. On August 17, Younes, an American-Jordanian citizen, was stopped and questioned by Jordanian intelligence officers on arrival at Queen Alia Airport, taken into custody, and later released with an order to appear before prosecutors in Amman. Younes and his lawyer have been informed that he has been accused of allegedly retweeting an article from the American Conservative (@amconmag) that included a call to cut U.S. funding to Jordan, an act authorities are treating as the crime of “undermining the national security of Jordan." At a court hearing today he was also informed that he had been charged with sedition and hate crimes in connection with the alleged retweet. Drop Site calls on Jordanian authorities to immediately drop the case against Ali Younes and lift the travel ban against him, and also calls on the U.S. government to provide him assistance as a U.S. citizen in the face of these spurious charges.
