Richard Medhurst engagement report
@richimedhurst - 551K followers on X
Measured over 15 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on August 27, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 213 interactions against 551K followers, an engagement rate of 0.039%. Measured over 15 original posts, its engagement rate beats 54% of 3,882 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 22K times each, and 0.968% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 3.99% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.4 post a day over the last 30 days, though only 20% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 22:00 UTC, and Wednesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 15 posts sampled, 40% are part of a thread. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 664 interactions, about 3.1x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
Richard Medhurst's engagement rate beats 54% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,882 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 8 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 51% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

At 0.039%, Richard Medhurst sits above the 25th percentile of the 37,582 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the below the median band, which runs 0.012% to 0.081%.

Posting timing
This account posts most often around 22:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

I've been telling you since March/April that a US blockade was coming, that it would hold, and that the US would dominate the oil and gas market. I was proven correct on all points. An analyst who only tells you what you want to hear over and over is feeding you garbage.

I promise you, no government on this planet views the world in terms of "good" and "evil". The only thing they care about is their own self-interest. That is the only worldview they have. Internalize this and resist the primal urge to root for one team or the other.

Notice how Trump doesn't send a fleet to North Korea but goes in person. How can we explain or rationalize this? Does it perhaps have something to do with the fact NK have a strategic deterrent?

Iran tried the strategy of "nuclear hedging" and suffice to say it didn't work. If you want actual deterrence, you need an actual deterrent. No shortcuts.

Israeli officials are coordinating directly with Syrian and Lebanese officials. When I look at these facts, I see evidence of US influence increasing in the region — not declining. Anyone who tells you otherwise is dealing in wishful thinking and out of touch with reality.

When people critique imperialism, what they are really critiquing are the mechanics of power. The problem is that no great power can behave differently. They all have to play by the same rules. There are no “good” powers—only amoral actors operating in a jungle. No unicorns.

People think some American politicians are "hawkish" — they should read Ancient Greece. It's funny how blunt people were back then, because they hadn't quite ironed out the kinks of decorum. As I keep saying: the US aren't doing anything that hasn't already been done before.

We happen by chance to be alive during the apogee of the US/Anglo-American bloc. But 2500-3000 years ago the Persians, Neo-Assyrians, Athenians, etc. would look & behave no different. To me, this presents two things: an indictment of human nature and a presentism bias.

Real commerce happens by sea, not by land. It's infinitely cheaper to send cargo by ship — and this will not change any time soon. Land routes are not a viable method to bypassing a US naval blockade. Whoever rules the waves, controls global trade.

What's actually exceptional/unique about the United States is their geography and their status as a hyperpower. Both are unrivaled throughout history. But in terms of great-power competition, America plays the game like everyone before it — from Athens and Rome to Britain.

- What is Richard Medhurst's engagement rate on X?
- Richard Medhurst (@richimedhurst) has an engagement rate of 0.039%, based on the median interactions across 15 original posts from the last 30 days against 551,376 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.039%, Richard Medhurst sits above the 25th percentile of the 37,582 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @richimedhurst have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 54% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,882 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @richimedhurst post?
- Most posts go out around 22:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.4 posts per day across the measured window.
