A typical post picks up 594 interactions against 492K followers, an engagement rate of 0.121%. Measured over 17 original posts, its engagement rate beats 74% of 20,182 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 89K times each, and 0.669% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 18.0% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.83 post a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 53% of days. Most posts go out around 20:00 UTC, and Tuesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 17 posts sampled, 53% carry an image or video and 29% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 2.3K interactions, about 4.0x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size

Getachew K Reda's engagement rate beats 74% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,182 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 10 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 37% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.121%, Getachew K Reda sits above the 25th percentile of the 202,076 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the below the median band, which runs 0.024% to 0.142%.

This account posts most often around 20:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

  • 29% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts.
  • Its average post runs 348 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

Taking calculated risk has never been the strong suit of the rump TPLF’s leadership. This was more than borne out by its recent disastrous miscalculation. What is more striking is how that trademark miscalculation was further compounded by the unholy alliance the TPLF leadership made with the father of disastrous miscalculations, Isaias Afeworki of Eritrea, not to mention the miscalculation of the other junior partners in this unholy alliance. As it turns out, by making an unholy alliance the TPLF leadership and president Isaias have proved, if anything, their tremendous capacity to bring down with them all those who have the stupidity to count on their wisdom, and to absolute oblivion. History seems to have passed a rather cruel verdict on President Isaias’ penchant for geopolitical gamble. That, alliance with its worst enemy, the TPLF, is about to prove the undoing of the Grand fool in Asmara is the most cruel of ironies.

I met and held a very candid discussion this evening with @EUSR_Weber and Ambassador Sofie of @EUinEthiopia on a range of issues of critical importance for peace and stability in our region. Tigray, Eritrea, Sudan, among others were issues we exchanged views on. I took the opportunity to underscore the dangerous role the regime in Asmara and its sponsors are playing in destabilizing the region and the dire consequences of not acting in a timely manner. We both agreed to continue to compare notes and work closely to toward avoiding further escalation.

The defunct TPLF leadership has officially admitted to having decided to resort to classic terrorist tactics in order to remind the people of Tigray that there was once such a thing as TPLF. They are telling us that they will shoot down civilian planes en route to Mekelle, among other heinous crimes it craves to commit. Yet another good reason why the people of Tigray are better off without these lunatics.

Ambassador Massinga sat down with The Reporter to discuss the ongoing situation in northern Ethiopia. He underscored that now is the time for Tigray to move ahead with the principles of the Pretoria agreement, including democracy, return of IDPs, restoration of administration, DDR, and humanitarian access. The Ambassador reiterated the United States’ commitment to lasting peace and stability in Ethiopia, the bedrock for economic development and which allows all people to forge their own destinies. How time flies?! Fourteen years since Meles’s passing. He was one of a kind, indeed! Whatever misgivings some might have had about his policies-no leader is immune to criticism- he did everything he could to live by every one of his principles and for good measure gave his all to everything he held dear. May he rest in peace!

Recent false and misleading reports have mischaracterized U.S. diplomacy in the Horn of Africa as an attempt to court an “anti-Ethiopian alliance.” That narrative is both inaccurate and needlessly inflammatory.   The United States works with Ethiopia and all countries across the Horn of Africa and the wider Red Sea region to advance shared priorities. Engagement with one regional partner should not be distorted into hostility toward another. U.S. diplomacy is not about creating rival blocs or deepening divisions—it is about working constructively with all partners to prevent conflict and promote lasting peace and security.

Reading these numbers

What is Getachew K Reda's engagement rate on X?
Getachew K Reda (@reda_getachew) has an engagement rate of 0.121%, based on the median interactions across 17 original posts from the last 30 days against 492,472 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.121%, Getachew K Reda sits above the 25th percentile of the 202,076 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @reda_getachew have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 74% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,182 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @reda_getachew post?
Most posts go out around 20:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day, at roughly 0.83 posts per day across the measured window.
