Peter King engagement report
@peter_king - 1.6M followers on X
Measured over 20 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on October 24, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 140 interactions against 1.6M followers, an engagement rate of 0.009%. Measured over 20 original posts, its engagement rate beats 32% of 19,932 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 49K times each, and 0.284% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 3.12% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.87 post a day over the last 30 days, though only 43% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 00:00 UTC, and Tuesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 20 posts sampled, 55% carry an image or video, 10% are part of a thread and 65% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 131K interactions.

Compared with accounts its own size
Peter King's engagement rate beats 32% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (19,932 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 10 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 20% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.009%, Peter King sits above the 10th percentile of the 201,449 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.024%.

Posting timing
This account posts most often around 00:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses
Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.
| Format | This account | Catalog effect | 95% interval | Accounts behind it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image or video | 55% of posts | +111% | +108% to +115% | 34K |
| Outbound link | 65% of posts | -41% | -42% to -40% | 32K |
| Typical length | - | no effect | -2% to -1% | 42K |
- 55% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
- 65% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts, so a large share of this account's output sits in the weakest bucket we measure.
- Its average post runs 224 characters, which falls in the 180 - 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts of 180 to 280 characters match the same accounts' other posts almost exactly.
These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

I opened Friday's @PFT_Live by addressing something not about football. The feedback was surprisingly positive. I wrote something about that issue tonight. If you're interested, here it is. If you're not, don't read it. Either way, have a good evening. https://t.co/PBAKLMnTts

Day 13, Kings Across America Bend, Ore., to Crater Lake National Park to Ashland, Ore. Not many cooler towns in America than Bend, with a bar- and coffee-shop-filled downtown and a great walking core. Not a single more awe-inspiring sight on this trip so far than Crater Lake, which took our collective breaths away walking up to the edge of the western rim of the 1,953-foot-deep pristine lake for our first glance. When you see the park ranked 15th among America’s 63 national parks in an exhaustive Wall Street Journal study, you think, “Come on. It’s just a lake.” No. No. It just has to be seen to be believed. Beautiful and blue and pure, fed by snowmass and rain only. What a sight to see. In addition, the rim road around the lake is narrow and harrowing, with sheer drops throughout and not many guardrails to be found. I don’t remember ever being scared driving. I was today. Whew. I needed that pFriem West Coast Pilsner (Hood River, Ore.) when we got to the southern end of Oregon. Weather: Cloudy, 57 down to 36 at our highest point of Crater Lake Miles driven: 191 Americana factoid: Traversing the big state of Oregon, we passed the towns of Rhododendron and Zigzag.

That Rick Gosselin, the most conscientious and well-researched member of the @ProFootballHOF selection committee I saw in my 32 years as a voter, has been removed from the voting group gives me doubts about the future of the Hall. It’s outrageous.

Hi everyone. I wrote a book. It’s about my 40 years covering the game and the concurrent growth of the game. Loved re-reporting some of my favorite stories, one per year, over 4 decades. Out in October. Preorder here: https://t.co/LnZpEnoLXx

Day 8, Kings Across America Missoula, Mont., to Seattle Highlights: -The name of the morning paper in Missoula is the Missoulian. -Good morning Coeur d’Alene. If the Pecan Roll French Toast at Jimmy’s Down the Street is good enough for Guy Fieri, it’s good enough for me. -Never heard of Timothy grass, but there were huge fields of it, and alfalfa, in central Washington. Used to feed livestock. -Passed the 3,000-mile mark of this journey on I-90 West crossing the Columbia River-which is just gorgeous-in central Washington. -Regular gas in South Dakota: $2.87.9. Today in Snoqualmie Pass, Wash.: $5.34.9. I need to understand that. -Driving to the end of I-90, just shy of Lumen Field/T-Mobile Park in Seattle, we ran into our first significant traffic since Chicago. Man, driving’s incredibly placid when you can, you know, drive. -Brooklyn to Seattle, including meandering: 3,140 miles. Weather: Gloom early, sun in Washington Miles driven: 478 Americana factoid: Stayed in the city-motelish-vibe Wren Hotel in Missoula, part of a chain with the Lark (Bozeman), Sparrow (Boise) and Finch (Walla Walla). Recommended.

Day 5, Kings Across America Mount Rushmore, SD to Jackson, Wyo. Crazy day. Started with a trip to the not-overrated Mount Rushmore (majestic; we loved it), then meandered through the Black Hills National Forest, then wound our way on mostly 70-mph two-lane roads to western Wyoming. Grand Teton National Park is next. In the mountain town of Dubois, 90 minutes east of Jackson, we passed a fire camp—temp housing and rest area for firefighters battling the Pack Trail fire in the state. As the sun set, it was hard to tell if the brightness came from the fireball of the sun or the actual wildfire. It was the fire. Eerie to see in the darkness a reddish-orange sky over the mountains as we drove. Road sign: HEAVY SMOKE FROM WILDFIRE. DRIVE WITH EXTREME CAUTION. We did make Jackson. I noticed in my hotel room that my polo shirt reeked of smoke. Feel for the firefighters and the residents so. Weather: Sunny early, smoky later Miles driven: 517 Americana factoid: Passed the National Museum of Military Vehicles on the road to Jackson. Who knew?

Reading these numbers
A typical post picks up 140 interactions against 1.6M followers, an engagement rate of 0.009%. Measured over 20 original posts, its engagement rate beats 32% of 19,932 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. - What is Peter King's engagement rate on X?
- Peter King (@peter_king) has an engagement rate of 0.009%, based on the median interactions across 20 original posts from the last 30 days against 1,575,501 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.009%, Peter King sits above the 10th percentile of the 201,449 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @peter_king have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 32% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (19,932 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @peter_king post?
- Most posts go out around 00:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day, at roughly 0.87 posts per day across the measured window.
