A typical post picks up 6 interactions against 170K followers, an engagement rate of 0.004%. Measured over 45 original posts, its engagement rate beats 14% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size. That is a reason to look at how the audience behaves - reply depth, saves, whether the followers are recent - rather than a conclusion about it on its own. Posts are seen about 974 times each, and 0.616% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 0.572% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.9 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 50% of days. Most posts go out around 21:00 UTC, and Saturday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 45 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video and 13% are part of a thread. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 35 interactions, about 5.8x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size

NEMA Nigeria's engagement rate beats 14% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 9 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 31% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.004%, NEMA Nigeria sits below the 10th percentile of the 205,152 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.024%.

NEMA Distributes Relief to Gully Erosion, Windstorm Victims in Abia The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Owerri Operations Office, in collaboration with the Abia State Emergency Management Agency (ABSEMA), has distributed relief materials to persons affected by gully erosion and windstorm incidents in Umuahia South and Ohafia Local Government Areas of Abia State. The direct distribution, held in Umuahia on September 15, 2026, was aimed at providing immediate support to households and communities affected by the disasters. Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Nweze said the intervention was approved by the Federal Government through NEMA to cushion the losses suffered by the affected persons. DG NEMA PARTICIPATES IN AFRICA EARLY WARNINGS FORUM The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, participated in the Africa Early Warnings Forum held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Forum brought together representatives of governments, disaster management institutions, technical agencies, development partners and other stakeholders to advance people-centred early warning systems and strengthen the transition from early warning to early and anticipatory action across Africa. During the Forum, the Director General represented Nigeria on a high-level panel that examined why early warnings do not always translate into timely action. She explained that for a warning to become actionable, four critical elements must be clearly established before a disaster occurs: the trigger for action, the authority responsible for taking decisions, the specific actions to be implemented, and the financing arrangements to support those actions. Mrs. Zubaida Umar highlighted NEMA’s ongoing efforts to close the warning-to-action gap through strengthened coordination, downscaling of forecasts and early warning information to communities, simulation exercises, anticipatory action and prepositioning of response resources. She also highlighted efforts to strengthen resilient emergency communication, including the deployment of 91 Starlink terminals, as well as ongoing legal and policy reforms, the development of Nigeria’s Early Warnings for All (EW4All) roadmap, and stronger partnerships at national, regional and global levels. The Director General further noted that NEMA is reviewing key policy and operational documents, including the National Disaster Management Framework and the National Disaster Response Plan, while developing new frameworks such as the National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy and the Disaster Risk Financing Framework. These initiatives, she said, are aimed at aligning Nigeria’s disaster management system with emerging risks, contemporary approaches and global best practices in disaster risk management. Mrs. Zubaida Umar reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s early warning architecture and ensuring that credible and timely risk information translates into informed decisions, coordinated early action and better protection of lives, livelihoods and vulnerable communities. 4th September, 2026

FLOOD: NEMA TASKS BENUE ON READINESS, COORDINATED RESPONSE The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has advised the Benue State Government to sustain its preparedness against flooding and urged residents, particularly those in vulnerable communities, to remain alert as the state continues to experience heavy rainfall. The Director General of NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar, gave the advice on Thursday during a full-scale flood response simulation exercise involving relevant stakeholders in Makurdi, Benue State. The exercise was preceded by intensive training of relevant stakeholders and community engagement aimed at strengthening operational preparedness, improving coordination and enhancing public awareness of appropriate actions before and during flood emergencies. Mrs Zubaida Umar, who was represented by the Director, Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Usman Bature, said Benue State remains vulnerable to flooding due to its topography, extensive river systems and floodplains, seasonal rainfall patterns, as well as settlements along the River Benue and its tributaries. She said the 2026 flood outlook underscores the need for sustained preparedness, effective early warning, coordinated response and timely evacuation of people from communities at risk. The Director General explained that the national disaster response framework is designed to operate from the bottom up, with initial action beginning at the community level and escalating through Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs) and the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to NEMA for additional federal support where required. Speaking on the importance of the simulation exercise, the Director General of NEMA said: “This exercise is not merely a demonstration of equipment or procedures. It is an opportunity to test, under realistic conditions, how quickly and effectively we can move from early warning to community action, local coordination, state-level response and, where necessary, federal support. “The bottom-up escalation pathway from community response to local government efforts through LEMCs, to the state through SEMA and federal support through NEMA is intended to ensure that assistance begins as close as possible to the affected population while progressively bringing in additional capacity as the situation escalates.” She assured that NEMA would continue to work with the Benue State Government and other stakeholders to strengthen preparedness, reduce vulnerabilities and enhance capacities to save lives and protect livelihoods. “The success of this exercise will ultimately be measured not by how impressive the simulation appears, but by how much better prepared we are when confronted with an actual flood emergency,” she said. The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, said the state’s location along the River Benue exposes many communities to recurring flooding. Governor Alia, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Sam Ode, said the prevailing humanitarian and disaster management challenges require sustained preparedness, effective coordination, continuous training and prompt response. According to him, the simulation provided an important opportunity to test existing systems, strengthen operational readiness, identify gaps and deepen inter-agency collaboration. Governor Alia said the water rescue and evacuation component of the exercise was particularly relevant to Benue State, expressing optimism that lessons from the simulation would strengthen preparedness and facilitate faster and more coordinated responses during actual emergencies. He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Benue State Government to work with NEMA towards the implementation of the Rehabilitation Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflicts (RSPIC) in the state to support displaced and conflict-affected persons. 17th September, 2026

NEMA, NIGERIAN AIR FORCE STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP ON EMERGENCY RESPONSE The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs Zubaida Umar, has reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to enhance national preparedness and response to disasters and other emergencies. Mrs Zubaida Umar stated this during a visit to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, 29th September 2026. The visit provided an opportunity for both organisations to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore measures to further strengthen existing collaboration, particularly in search and rescue operations, humanitarian assistance, emergency logistics and capacity building. Mrs Zubaida Umar said NEMA places a high premium on inter-agency collaboration, noting that the increasing complexity of emergencies requires the coordinated deployment of available national capabilities and resources. She further highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination between NEMA and the Nigerian Air Force Disaster Response Units to facilitate timely mobilisation and deployment whenever military support to civil authorities is required during emergencies. Mrs Zubaida Umar expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Air Force for its longstanding support to NEMA and other civil authorities during emergency operations across the country and assured that the Agency would continue to deepen the partnership. Responding, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force to supporting national disaster management efforts within its constitutional responsibilities and capabilities. He acknowledged the importance of effective collaboration between the military and civil authorities in responding to emergencies and assured NEMA of the continued support of the Nigerian Air Force in areas where its capabilities are required. Both organisations agreed on the need to sustain engagement, joint capacity building, simulation exercises, information sharing and operational coordination to further enhance Nigeria’s emergency preparedness and response architecture. The visit further reinforces the longstanding partnership between NEMA and the Nigerian Air Force towards protecting lives, reducing the impact of disasters and strengthening national resilience. 29th September, 2026

What is NEMA Nigeria's engagement rate on X?
NEMA Nigeria (@nemanigeria) has an engagement rate of 0.004%, based on the median interactions across 45 original posts from the last 30 days against 170,179 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.004%, NEMA Nigeria sits below the 10th percentile of the 205,152 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @nemanigeria have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 14% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts), which puts it in the bottom quarter for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @nemanigeria post?
Most posts go out around 21:00 UTC, and Saturday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.9 posts per day across the measured window.
