A typical post picks up 6 interactions against 289K followers, an engagement rate of 0.002%. Measured over 56 original posts, its engagement rate beats 9% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size. That is a reason to look at how the audience behaves - reply depth, saves, whether the followers are recent - rather than a conclusion about it on its own. Posts are seen about 876 times each, and 0.628% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 0.303% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.9 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 7% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 13:00 UTC, and Wednesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 56 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video and 14% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 578 interactions, about 96x its own typical post. Recurring topics include #watch, #frontpage, #interactiveread.

Compared with accounts its own size

Namibian Sun's engagement rate beats 9% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 9 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 31% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.002%, Namibian Sun sits below the 10th percentile of the 204,956 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.024%.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

ASSISTANCE: A Good Samaritan has donated groceries worth N$2,000 to Jumba Martha (33) after seeing a Namibian Sun post showing her resilience as she carried discarded cans to sell at a local scrap yard in Rundu while carrying her four-month-old daughter on her back. Reinhard Moyo said Martha’s story and her determination to provide for her children moved him to help with groceries and basic necessities. Another Good Samaritan from Windhoek has also contributed N$500 to assist Martha. Martha is seeking employment, including domestic work. Anyone willing to assist her can contact 0817382724 or 0816689681. Update & Photos: Eliot Ipinge

JUST IN: The Namibian Police have appealed to the public to help identify bedding and shopping bags found with the dismembered remains of 27-year-old Danelize Majiedt, whose suspected murder is under investigation. Majiedt was reported missing on 30 August, with her remains discovered on 5 October beside a culvert along Daan Viljoen Road, about two kilometres from a police roadblock. DNA analysis confirmed the remains were hers. Police said the remains, consisting of her torso and upper legs, were wrapped in linen, placed in black refuse bags and packed into two large nylon shopping bags. Her head, neck, arms, hands, lower legs and feet have not been recovered. The items recovered include a purple double-bed duvet cover with cursive writing on one side and butterfly designs on the reverse, a white fitted single-bed sheet, a large orange-and-brown floral shopping bag, a large blue shopping bag decorated with watermelon designs, and a red top bearing the words “Teaching is work of heart” alongside a pencil image. According to police, Majiedt occasionally left her parents’ home in Starling Street, Khomasdal, and visited areas including Khomasdal, Otjomuise and Katutura, where establishments reportedly selling drugs were among the places she frequented. Police have urged domestic workers, accommodation providers and members of the public to come forward if they recognise the items or witnessed suspicious activity, including mattresses or other goods being discarded during September or October. EFULULU TOURISM: The Okongo village council has brought an exciting adventure to embrace the sandy soil through tourism lenses sponsored by Pupkewitz Motors, by introducing the maludi Festival 4x4 Experience, scheduled for 26 September 2026. This is not a competition but a guided adventure aimed at improving driving skills while promoting tourism and supporting local businesses in Okongo. The initiative was officially launched on Thursday. Okongo Village Council CEO Jackson Muma said participants will start the morning with a one-hour training session led by a 4x4 expert. Anyone interested can participate at a fee of N$300, with organisers targeting 80 to 100 participants. Participants will then proceed to a designated area to test their 4x4 skills before embarking on a guided off-road trail. After the trail, they will return to Okongo to support local businesses before heading to Ombuutu Campsite for a picnic and networking session. Muma said the initiative is intended to upskill drivers while allowing them to have fun, attract participants from across Namibia and welcome visitors travelling to the country during the period. Other sponsors are Tulaing Group Pty, Okongo Medical Centre and Ombutu Campsite. Proceeds from the experience will go towards the Omaludi Festival planned for May 2027.

ARRESTED: The driver of a bus that crashed into street vendors and two vehicles in Ondangwa this afternoon has been arrested and charged with culpable homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol, police have confirmed. Oshana Police Regional Commander Commissioner Andreas Shilelo said one man died on the spot, while four women were injured and taken to Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital for treatment. Shilelo said one of the injured women is in critical condition, while the other three are responding to treatment. Another woman was reportedly in shock but was not physically injured. Shilelo said the bus veered off the road and struck vendors who were selling their goods behind the pavement before colliding with two vehicles in the area. He confirmed that the driver was arrested and blood samples taken at the hospital indicate that “he was heavily under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash”. He said the body of the deceased was taken to the police mortuary for forensic examination and further investigation. Shilelo said police had not yet properly informed the next of kin and would do so in the coming hours before releasing further details. Police investigations into the crash are continuing. Foreign nationals married to Namibian citizens will, from 21 September 2026, be able to apply for a Certificate of Domicile, which serves as official proof that Namibia is their established home because of their marriage to a Namibian citizen. In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security said the new certificate replaces the Certificate of Identity previously issued to foreign spouses. Applicants must apply in person and may be interviewed by immigration officials to verify that the marriage is genuine. The certificate will cost N$1,600 once approved. Existing confirmation letters of domicile will remain valid until further notice, while dependent children will not qualify for the new certificate. Update: Eliot Ipinge

What is Namibian Sun's engagement rate on X?
Namibian Sun (@namibiansun) has an engagement rate of 0.002%, based on the median interactions across 56 original posts from the last 30 days against 289,362 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.002%, Namibian Sun sits below the 10th percentile of the 204,956 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @namibiansun have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 9% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts), which puts it in the bottom 10% for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @namibiansun post?
Most posts go out around 13:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.87 posts per day across the measured window.
