معلومات هامة عما فعله ابن سلمان خلال الحرب وبعدها أدرك ابن سلمان في آخر أيام الحرب أنه مكشوف تماما، وأن أمريكا مشغولة بتعويض طواقمها المدمرة وأولويات أهم من السعودية. وحين أُعلن وقف إطلاق النار كانت البلد عملياً مكشوفة في جميع الجبهات، وقد استنفذت وسائل الدفاع الجوي أمام الصواريخ والمسيرات. ولهذه الأسباب اتجه ابن سلمان للتالي: أولا بذل كل جهد في إقناع إيران أنه لم ولن يشارك بشكل مباشر في الحرب، واعترف لإيران أن ليس له سلطة على القواعد الأمريكية ولا ما تفعله القوات الأمريكية داخل المملكة أو في أجوائها، وتعهد للإيرانيين بالسعي لإقناع أمريكا بعدم استئناف الحرب بكل ما يملك من تأثير. وتسبب هذا الموقف في صدام مع الإمارات وإسرائيل. ثانيا: سعى لتحييد الحوثيين بتقديم تنازلات شاملة وتنفيذ كل ما طلبوه، ومن أجل ذلك طلب منهم إرسال وفد للرياض للتفاهم. وقد استقبل الوفد الذي كان بقيادة محمد علي الحوثي بكرم وأريحية، ووفر لهم حماية بفريق من أفضل فرق الحماية، وتستر على الخبر تستراً كاملا وتوسل إليهم أن يتستروا على الخبر كذلك. وفي اللقاء وافق ابن سلمان على كل طلبات الحوثيين مقابل عدم قصف السعودية وعدم الهجوم عليها. وكانت طلبات الحوثيين التي وافق عليها: - الاعتراف بحكمهم للشمال - دفع تعويضات عن الأضرار التي تسببت بها حملاته ضدهم - دفع كامل رواتب المدنيين والعسكريين في مناطق نفوذ الحوثيين وصل خبر هذا التفاهم للميليشيات العراقية فتشجعت لابتزاز السعودية والكويت في سعي لانتزاع شي مشابه. ثالثا بعد ظنه أنه تمكن من تحييد الحوثيين قام بالتالي - سحب جميع بطاريات الباتريوت وكامل أطقمها من منطقة نجران وأبقى فقط على سرية مدفعية للتعامل مع المسيرات. - سحب البطاريات من منطقة جازان وأبقى على طاقم واحد لحماية محطة الشقيق للتحلية - سحب جميع الباتريوت و أطقمها من منطقة عسير وأبقى واحدة فقط لحماية مطار أبها رابعا قام بتحويل البطاريات والطواقم إلى الأماكن التالية - قصر الملك بجدة - ميناء ضخ البترول في ينبع - مشاريع سرية في منطقة مهد الذهب (لا يعرف سبب التركيز عليها) - بعض ثغرات الحماية في منطقة الرياض وبعد إعطاء الأولوية لهذه المناطق بقيت المنطقة الشرقية وحقول النفط في الربع الخالي مكشوفة نسبيا أمام الصواريخ. خامسا إضافة للباكستانيين تواصل ابن سلمان مع مصر لتأمين قوات شبيهة بالقوات الباكستانية وروسيا وإيطاليا وأوكرانيا لتأمين مسيرات ومضادات المسيرات. سادسا تسببت هذه الإجراءات في إحباط لدى قيادات الجيش المخلصة بعد تضحياتهم في الجنوب و نداءاتهم المتكررة لتقوية الجيش بالإبقاء على القيادات الجيدة وتدريب مزيد من القيادات وتوظيف العدد الكافي من الأفراد وتأمين منظومات السلاح وتطوير الصناعات العسكرية. مقابل هذه النداءات طرد ابن سلمان ما يقارب ثلث القيادات المخلصة ولم يعوضهم بقيادات جيدة، وأعطى الأولوية للمشاريع الفاشلة والاستثمارات الخاسرة وحفلات المجون، واعتمد كليا على حماية أمريكا، وراهن على رشوة الحوثيين، واضطر أخيرا للاستسلام لهم وتنفيذ كل طلباتهم. تسببت كل هذه التصرفات بخيبة أمل عند كبار العسكريين وشعور بأن ليس لهم دور في حماية البلد وأن البلد كله رهينة شطحات ابن سلمان
