A typical post picks up 28 interactions against 159K followers, an engagement rate of 0.017%. Measured over 20 original posts, its engagement rate beats 26% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 5.9K times each, and 0.467% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 3.71% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.7 post a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 67% of days. Most posts go out around 12:00 UTC, and Tuesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 20 posts sampled, 90% carry an image or video and 40% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 21K interactions, about 752x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size

Merril Hoge's engagement rate beats 26% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 8 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 24% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.017%, Merril Hoge sits above the 10th percentile of the 205,676 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.024%.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

  • 90% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
  • 40% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts, so a large share of this account's output sits in the weakest bucket we measure.
  • Its average post runs 729 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

17 years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer. On that day, chemo and dying consumed me, but I quickly found hope in those who had survived, and I continue to fight for those who did not! Feb 14th has helped me embrace life every day, not just the good days. #FindAWay every day! https://t.co/w4JKdLVnnm

I remember sitting there as the doctors explained how aggressive my cancer treatment would be. They told me the chemotherapy was so powerful that if it came into contact with the nurse's skin—or mine—it could cause third-degree burns. I couldn't help but think, If that's what it can do on the outside, what's it going to do inside my body? In that moment, I truly understood what I was up against. The doctors told me to keep my routine as normal as possible. But after hearing what that treatment was capable of, I knew there was nothing "normal" about what lay ahead. That's when I made a decision. I wasn't going to spend my time worrying about what I couldn't control. I was going to focus on what I could control...my attitude, my effort, my faith, and my willingness to fight every single day. Life will put obstacles in front of all of us. Some are bigger than we ever imagined. But no matter what you're facing, you always have a choice. You can let fear define your future, or you can let purpose drive your next step. You don't have to win the whole battle today. You just have to keep fighting today. Find A Way. Every Day. #findaway #cancersurvivor #keepfighting

Some things just feel right when you get the band back together. 🏈 Throwback to some of my favorite days in football—and now, getting the chance to do it again with Trey, Mark, and Damien. Four guys who have spent years around this game, seen it from the inside, and still love talking football as much as we did back then. No agendas. No fluff. Just great conversations, a lot of laughs, and breaking down the game we all love. Grateful to be part of it and excited for what’s ahead with The OG Football Show. Sometimes you don't realize how special the memories were until you get the chance to make new ones. The band is back. Let’s go! 🏈🔥

One of the greatest lessons I ever learned had nothing to do with running the football. One day in practice, a coach looked at me standing on the other side of the field and asked, "What are you doing over there?" My answer? "Nothing." He looked at me and said, "Then go help your teammate." He challenged me to become uncommon. He reminded me that you never know what's going to happen on the field. A teammate may go down. Someone may need help. If you only know one job, you're limiting your value. From that day on, I expanded my role. I attacked my weaknesses, learned every position I could, and became the player the team could count on in any situation. That's what made me a starter. I've carried that lesson with me ever since. Don't just do what's required. Look for ways to add value. Learn a new skill. Help someone else. Prepare for opportunities before they arrive. The people who become uncommon aren't waiting to be needed—they're already getting ready. Find A Way.

As the guys report to training camp, I can't help but think back to all the memories. Training camp wasn't just about getting ready for a season. It was about building trust, learning discipline, creating lifelong friendships, and discovering what you were made of. Every practice, every meeting, every challenge was preparing you for something bigger than yourself. Looking back now, what I appreciate most isn't just the football. It's the people. The teammates, coaches, trainers, and staff who became part of my life. Every year when I see training camp begin, I smile because I know so many of those relationships are still going strong. Football gave me so much more than a career. It gave me lessons that still shape my life today and friendships that have stood the test of time. To all the players heading to camp: embrace every moment. It may not feel like it now, but one day you'll realize the greatest memories weren't just the games...they were the journey and the people you shared it with. Enjoy the process. The season starts now. Find A Way. 🏈

I'm excited about where the Steelers are headed. One of the things I've believed for a long time is that our defense has lost some of the fear factor it once had, and our running game hasn't been the foundation of who we are. If you're going to build championship football, those two areas have to be your identity. That's why I'm encouraged by the addition of Coach McCarthy. Experience matters. Leadership matters. When you're trying to get an organization back to playing its brand of football, you need someone who's been there and done it. One thing I've learned over the years is this: the Rooney family doesn't make coaching decisions lightly. They don't change coaches often, but when they do, they do it with purpose. Looking back, they've built a remarkable track record of finding the right leaders at the right time. That's one of the reasons this organization has been respected for generations. I'm looking forward to seeing this team get back to playing physical, disciplined, Steelers football. Training camp is where it all begins. Here we go! 🏈

The best time to change your circumstances was yesterday... The second-best time is today. We can't go back and change what happened. We can't undo the missed opportunity, the mistake, or the time we spent waiting. But we can decide what we do next. Don't let yesterday's circumstances become tomorrow's excuse. Take ownership. Make the call. Start the plan. Take the first step. It doesn't have to be a giant move. Progress starts with action. Whatever you've been putting off, whatever you've been telling yourself you'll do "someday"—why not today? Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow isn't promised. You've got today. Find A Way. 💪

Football is BACK in Pittsburgh! 🏈 What a way to kick off the preseason at Acrisure Stadium. There’s nothing quite like the energy of being back around the game, the fans, and the Steelers family. I was fortunate to start the night with some of the best and share the game with you all on KDKA. Did you tune in? The excitement is building, and I’m looking forward to an incredible season ahead. Here We Go!

Reading these numbers

A typical post picks up 28 interactions against 159K followers, an engagement rate of 0.017%. Measured over 20 original posts, its engagement rate beats 26% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 5.9K times each, and 0.467% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 3.71% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. What is Merril Hoge's engagement rate on X?
Merril Hoge (@merrilhoge) has an engagement rate of 0.017%, based on the median interactions across 20 original posts from the last 30 days against 159,081 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.017%, Merril Hoge sits above the 10th percentile of the 205,676 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @merrilhoge have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 26% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @merrilhoge post?
Most posts go out around 12:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day, at roughly 0.7 posts per day across the measured window.
