Early reading. We have captured 4 original posts for this account, below the 8 we require before treating a median as settled. The numbers above describe what we have seen so far, not a finished profile of the account.

A typical post picks up 592 interactions against 1.2M followers, an engagement rate of 0.049%. Posts are seen about 24K times each, and 2.49% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 1.97% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.13 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 13% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 21:00 UTC, and Sunday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 4 posts sampled, 75% carry an image or video. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 15K interactions, about 25x its own typical post. Only 4 original posts have been captured so far, fewer than the 8 posts we want behind a median before treating it as settled. Read the figures above as an early measurement of this account, not as a finished profile of it.

Engagement rate as a share of followers, across the 204,880 accounts we have scanned enough to measure. The axis is logarithmic, because the top and bottom of this population are about 22,891 times apart and a linear axis would flatten everything below the median into a single point.

Posting timing

This account posts most often around 21:00 UTC, and Sunday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

  • 75% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
  • 0% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts.
  • Its average post runs 196 characters, which falls in the 180 - 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts of 180 to 280 characters match the same accounts' other posts almost exactly.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

When my son was 10, he recognized that I was an older father and he was not happy about that, and I never considered that. I walked into his bedroom one night, I could tell he'd been crying, puffy eyes, tears stained cheek. And I go, what's going on, buddy? Because I don't know his name. I’m never home. My son said, I've just been thinking, I'm 10 now and you're 63. When I'm 20. You're gonna be 73. When I'm 30. You'll be 83. You won’t be around for a lot of my life. I said. Buddy buddy, buddy. What's his fucking name. I said I’ll be around for a long time. Don't you worry about that. I'll be around when you graduate. I'll be around when you get married, when you have kids, I’ll be around for all that stuff. You just gotta make it happen in the next four years. Otherwise, yeah, you're probably right. I won't be around. He said, no, I'm serious. Dad. Dad? he doesn't know my name either.

When I was 23, my plan was to go to New York and do standup. I arrived in New York and was so terrified by the clubs and the comics. The rooms were really small and people were smoking and the comics were very New York. Larry David was there. Then I moved to LA, and you don't just go back home right away because you don't have any money left. I was trying to do standup. I got homesick after six months. I called my dad and said, I don't know what to do. I don't really want to go home and I got just enough money for the first and the last month's rent for this shitty apartment. I thought he was going to say, come home. He said, Kev, stay out there and give it a try. I forever thanked him for that.

Robin Williams had done his set and left the comedy club. Soon after he walks back in annoyed. I says to him I says what’s going on? He said his car wouldn’t start. I go maybe I can help. I know absolutely nothing about cars. He doesn’t know that. I just wanted to make him think I was helping him. So we go outside. He’s got a Range Rover. We open the hood. He’s leaning in swearing.
I'm looking around. Nodding. Like I’m a mechanic. I have no idea what any of it is.
 After a minute I say
Yeah… I don’t have my tools with me.
You might need a mechanic.
Then I said
Robin, can I give you a ride home?

The only time I was close to breaking character on SNL was when Chris Farley walked out in a bow tie and cuffs and started dancing. I had to look at my clipboard to stop myself from laughing.
