El INDH lamenta el fallecimiento de la defensora de derechos humanos Eliana Vidal Cortés y entrega las condolencias a sus familiares. Fue una destacada dirigenta estudiantil durante los años de la Reforma Universitaria y una de las primeras mujeres en ser parte de la Federación de Estudiantes de la PUCV (FEUCV). Prisionera política y exiliada durante la dictadura, a su regreso a Chile fue parte de la Corporación de Promoción y Defensa de los Derechos del Pueblo y a continuación trabajó en la Casa de la Mujer. Gran parte de su labor en resguardo de los derechos de las personas la desarrolló en la Región de Valparaíso, en donde, entre múltiples actividades, fue activa gestora de Radio Placeres. Nombrada ciudadana ilustre de Valparaíso el año 2019. Es por eso que el jefe de la sede del INDH, Fernando Martínez, señaló que “Eliana fue una muy buena amiga del INDH Valparaíso, siempre interesada en los problemas de derechos humanos de la región y buscando formas de colaboración y trabajo conjunto”.

En el marco del Día Internacional de las Víctimas de Desapariciones Forzadas, el #INDHRM realizó la instalación “La Silla Vacía” en el Campus San Joaquín de la Pontificia Universidad Católica. Esta actividad busca recordar las ausencias de las y los detenidos desaparecidos y sensibilizar a la comunidad universitaria sobre el valor de la memoria y el respeto de los derechos humanos. Además, la sede del INDH participó en las ceremonias conmemorativas realizadas en el Memorial de Paine y en el Memorial Cerro Chena.

Como integrante de la Mesa de Educación y Promoción en Derechos Humanos, #INDHÑuble organizó un acto en memoria de las víctimas de la dictadura, en especial el centenar de ejecutados y detenidos desaparecidos de la región. La actividad se desarrolló en la Sala Schafer del Centro de Extensión de la Universidad del Biobío y reunió a alrededor de 200 personas, quienes se emocionaron con una jornada que se realiza por segundo año consecutivo.

Asistió a la romería al cementerio de San Fernando y participó en el homenaje del Colegio de Profesoras y Profesores que presentó un mural por los docentes Luis Almonacid (ejecutado político) y Justino Vásquez (detenido desaparecido).
