Virunga National Park engagement report
@gorillacd - 61K followers on X
Measured over 14 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on September 29, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 376 interactions against 61K followers, an engagement rate of 0.617%. Measured over 14 original posts, its engagement rate beats 78% of 20,445 tracked accounts of a similar size. Comparing inside a size band matters here: engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly just re-measure the follower count. Posts are seen about 3.3K times each, and 11.2% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 5.48% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.53 post a day over the last 30 days, though only 20% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 15:00 UTC, and Thursday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 14 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video, 14% are part of a thread and 14% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 1.3K interactions, about 3.4x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
Virunga National Park's engagement rate beats 78% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,445 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 5 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 97% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.617%, Virunga National Park sits above the 50th percentile of the 204,694 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the above the median band, which runs 0.143% to 0.677%.

Formats this account uses
Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.
| Format | This account | Catalog effect | 95% interval | Accounts behind it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image or video | 100% of posts | +111% | +108% to +115% | 34K |

| Typical length | - | +15% | +14% to +16% | 32K |
- 100% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
- 14% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts.
- Its average post runs 679 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.
These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

Lulingu, one of four eastern lowland gorillas reintroduced to the wild in Virunga National Park in 2024 as part of a first-of-its-kind rewilding effort, gave birth for the first time in the wild on May 21. Nearly four months later, the mother and infant remain under close observation. "Our monitoring team left our headquarters at this morning and reached the Kipura family at . Lulingu and her female infant, who will be four months old next Monday, were grooming and cradling each other. They both appeared healthy. Silverback Mwasa, the infant's father, and the rest of the family were feeding close by," said Benoit Ishaba, head of gorilla monitoring on Mt. Tshiaberimu. The rewilding was in partnership with @GRACEGorillas and local communities, with support from @GorillaDoctors and @Rewild. 📹 Virunga National Park #EasternLowlandGorilla #CriticallyEndangered #Rewilding #DRC

With 60 members, the Bageni family is the largest known mountain gorilla troop on Earth. Led by silverback Bageni, the troop includes a rare set of twins born in January to Mafuko. She keeps them close, grooming and feeding them, while the rest of the group keeps a distance. This World Gorilla Day, we're celebrating families like Bageni's, which have thrived thanks to decades of conservation work led by local field teams.

Good news from the field this World Gorilla Day: our community trackers and monitoring teams have recorded two new mountain gorilla births in Virunga National Park. Nvunabandi of the Masibo family welcomed a baby boy, bringing the group to 16 members. Kabila of the Nyakamwe family also gave birth to a male, and her family now numbers 18. That's 15 births in the Mikeno sector since January, a sign that protection is working, thanks to the teams on the ground. Have a question about our mountain gorilla families? Virunga National Park is pleased to announce that, during a monitoring visit to the Rugendo family earlier this week, community trackers observed a newborn within the group. Field observations identified Buzara as the mother and confirmed the baby is a female. This birth brings the Rugendo family to 20 individuals. It is the 13th birth recorded among the Park's mountain gorillas since the start of 2026. We warmly thank the European Union and UNESCO for their continued support of mountain gorilla conservation in Virunga National Park. 📸 Virunga National Park @EU_Partnerships @UEenRDC @UNESCO

@EU_Partnerships @UEenRDC @UNESCO 📸 Virunga National Park

- What is Virunga National Park's engagement rate on X?
- Virunga National Park (@gorillacd) has an engagement rate of 0.617%, based on the median interactions across 14 original posts from the last 30 days against 60,987 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.617%, Virunga National Park sits above the 50th percentile of the 204,694 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @gorillacd have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 78% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,445 accounts), which puts it in the top quarter for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @gorillacd post?
- Most posts go out around 15:00 UTC, and Thursday is its busiest day, at roughly 0.53 posts per day across the measured window.
