العقيد / عبدالله بن سفر العمري – رحمه الله – “شاعر القوات المسلحة” هكذا لقبه سمو وزير الدفاع الأمير سلطان بن عبدالعزيز رحمه الله، وكان العقيد عبدالله من طليعة القيادات السعودية على الصعيد العملي، ومن وجهاء بني عمرو ورجال الحجر على الصعيد المجتمعي، امتلك شخصية قيادية واجتماعية فذّة، فكان ملء السمع والبصر لولاة أمره وزملائه ومجتمعه، واشتهر بالكرم والعقل الراجح ومساعدة الآخرين وبذل المعروف وحسن العشرة. وُلد في قرية ذالمظر -بني كريم- بني عمرو عام 1340هـ ونشأ على القيم الأصيلة، حيث بدأ تعليمه في الكتاتيب، قبل أن يلتحق بالقوات المسلحة السعودية، وبتوفيق الله ثم بفضل ما عُرف عنه من ذكاءٍ فطري وكفاءةٍ عالية، تدرّج في الرتب العسكرية من جندي حتى بلغ رتبة عقيد، قائداً لفوج الدبابات في تبوك، مسجّلًا مسيرةً حافلة بالعطاء والتميّز. شارك – رحمه الله – ضمن القوات السعودية المرابطة في سوريا، وكان من أوائل رجال الدبابات الذين أسهموا في بناء هذا السلاح، الذي أصبح اليوم أحد أبرز أعمدة القوات البرية الملكية السعودية. وتنقّل خلال خدمته بين عدة مناطق، منها مناطق الطائف والخرج وحائل وخميس مشيط، قبل أن يختتم مسيرته العسكرية في تبوك برتبة عقيد. وعلى الصعيد الإنساني، كان مثالاً في الكرم والنبل؛ فقد كان بيته مقصدًا ومأوى لكل قادم من المنطقة الجنوبية، مضيافًا، ساعيًا في قضاء حوائج الناس، ومساعدتهم، بل والحرص على توظيفهم وخدمتهم بكل ما يستطيع. كما كان – رحمه الله – شاعرًا مبدعًا، يجيد الشعر النبطي والشعبي، ويُعد من كبار شعراء “اللعب الجنوبي”، ولا تزال قصائده حيّة تتردد على ألسنة الأجيال حتى اليوم. وقد حظي بشرف إلقاء الشعر أمام صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير سلطان بن عبدالعزيز – رحمه الله – الذي منحه لقب “شاعر القوات المسلحة”. فيما يعمل أبناؤه على جمع إرثه الشعري في ديوان سيرى النور قريبًا بإذن الله. توفي – رحمه الله – عام 1395هـ، بعد أن ترك إرثًا عظيمًا من الأخلاق الرفيعة، وكرم الضيافة، والسيرة العطرة، وأبناءً وبناتٍ يُعدّون من صفوة المجتمع. رحم الله عبدالله بن سفر العمري، الذي كان في حياته سيد المجالس بحديثه، وأصبح بعد رحيله سيد المجالس بالحديث عنه.
