Early reading. We have captured 1 original post for this account, below the 8 we require before treating a median as settled. The numbers above describe what we have seen so far, not a finished profile of the account.

A typical post picks up 314 interactions against 167K followers, an engagement rate of 0.188%. Posts are seen about 9.7K times each, and 3.23% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 5.82% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.03 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 3% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 15:00 UTC, and Monday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 1 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 38K interactions, about 122x its own typical post. Only 1 original post have been captured so far, fewer than the 8 posts we want behind a median before treating it as settled. Read the figures above as an early measurement of this account, not as a finished profile of it.

Posting timing

This account posts most often around 15:00 UTC, and Monday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

  • 0% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts.
  • Its average post runs 332 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been charged with cybercrime for alleging wiretapping the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Rubadu, Looking at this charge, I have a few issues with it. Firstly, there is no entity known to law as Department of State Services (DSS) as stated in this charge. The National Security Agencies Act only recognizes and creates the State Security Service (SSS). Secondly, the said Act does not vest the SSS with prosecutorial power. Thirdly, does El-Rufai’s statement on Arise TV qualify as an “extrajudicial statement” under the law, same having not been made under caution? For a statement to be extrajudicial and confessional, it has to be under caution. He didn’t say he wiretapped the NSA, he said someone else did and told him. The constitutional right against self-incrimination will enure in his favour. No court can compel him to give evidence against himself. I am not a fan of El-Rufai, but this charge appears problematic in law. Time will tell.

I’m pleased to see that President Trump appears to have listened to our concerns back in November and worked with the Nigerian government rather than acting unilaterally. The US airstrikes reportedly took place in Sokoto State, suggesting they targeted the Lakurawa group, which has become increasingly lethal. Strikes against the group are a welcome development, as they can help degrade its leadership and logistical capacity. This is especially positive given that the operation was carried out with the consent and cooperation of the Nigerian government.

Truth be told, Kwankwaso is among the most moderate and pro-Nigeria politicians the country has ever produced. Naming him in the U.S. House bill as the sole individual to be sanctioned is not only unfair but plainly erroneous. His name should be withdrawn from the bill without delay. More broadly, this episode exposes the poor quality of the information underpinning the so-called “Christian genocide” narrative. Its proponents just generate and circulate unsubstantiated claims and then rely on those same claims as evidence.

I joined BBC Breakfast this morning to challenge President Trump’s false narrative that terrorist groups in Nigeria are primarily targeting Christians. I argued that Nigerian Muslims and Christians are not competing over who has suffered more. What they want is for the country’s security crisis to be addressed and for their lives to be protected.

Those claiming that El-Rufai never said he tapped the NSA’s phone either didn’t watch the interview or are deliberately spreading a falsehood. In the interview, he clearly said, “We listen to their calls” - which is the definition of wiretapping. He later said someone tapped the phone and informed him. At no point did he indicate that his first statement was a mistake. Even if he or his supporters argue that the initial statement was a slip, failing to report someone who is tapping another person’s calls and benefiting from the crime is itself a crime under the Cybercrimes Act. I have no personal issue with El-Rufai, nor am I a supporter of Ribadu; I have never met either of them or spoken to them by phone. But I cannot stand a politician going on national TV and admitting to committing a crime - and then going scot-free just because he is in the opposition. There is no middle ground: El-Rufai is either lying or he is a criminal.
