A typical post picks up 2 interactions against 114K followers, an engagement rate of 0.002%. Measured over 12 original posts, its engagement rate beats 7% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size. That is a reason to look at how the audience behaves - reply depth, saves, whether the followers are recent - rather than a conclusion about it on its own. Posts are seen about 2.9K times each, and 0.069% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 2.55% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.47 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 33% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 17:00 UTC, and Thursday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 12 posts sampled, 25% carry an image or video, 8% are part of a thread and 75% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 215 interactions, about 108x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size

Toronto Hydro's engagement rate beats 7% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 8 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 4% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.002%, Toronto Hydro sits below the 10th percentile of the 205,261 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.024%.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

  • 25% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
  • 75% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts, so a large share of this account's output sits in the weakest bucket we measure.
  • Its average post runs 202 characters, which falls in the 180 - 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts of 180 to 280 characters match the same accounts' other posts almost exactly.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

A severe wind and hail storm is causing widespread outages and damage across Toronto, currently affecting approximately 65,000 customers. This is an evolving situation and we want customers to know that crews are actively responding across the city. The safety of our customers, employees and the public remain our top priority. We are responding to reported hazards, including downed powerlines and damaged electrical equipment, while coordinating restoration efforts across the city. Teams are assessing storm-related damage, making emergency repairs and working to restore service safely and as quickly as possible. Given the scale of the storm and the number of outages, restoration efforts may take time and vary by location. Additional storms are forecast throughout the evening, which may impact restoration efforts. If you encounter a downed powerline, stay at least 10 metres away and call Toronto Hydro immediately at 416-542-8000 (press 1). Never approach or touch a downed powerline. We will continue to provide updates as we learn more and crews complete assessments across the city. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we respond to this significant weather event.

Did you know some of the earliest electrical infrastructure in Toronto dates back to the 1880s? Our team uncovered something incredible: an Edison tube junction box — connected to a cable system that likely helped power some of the city’s very first streetlights, back when electricity in Toronto was just getting started. What makes this find even more unique? It’s a transition piece — bridging early electrical systems. The cable attached actually predates paper-insulated lead-covered (PILC) cable. It features cloth insulation with a lead cover, a rare design that’s almost never seen today. This type of system (known as an Edison tube system) was among the world’s first underground electrical networks, laying the groundwork for the grids we rely on today. Our crews continue working around the clock with additional resources deployed following the September 2 severe storm that impacted neighbourhoods across Toronto. As of this evening crews have restored power to 63,000 customers reducing the number of those without power to approximately 1,200. While our restoration progress is advancing, crews continue to address substantial damage across the city including large fallen trees, broken utility poles and downed power lines. We know how challenging it is to be without power heading into the long weekend, and we thank our customers and the community for their patience as our crews continue restoration efforts. We remain committed to restoring service to affected customers. For outage updates overnight, please refer to our outage map, which is updated as crews progress through repairs throughout the night: https://t.co/3WUxx3zeHy

Outage update: Power has been restored to approximately 64,900 customers since Wednesday's severe weather event, with about 100 customers still without service. We recognize how difficult and disruptive this extended outage has been for affected customers and their families. Crews continue working around the clock to restore the remaining outages, addressing extensive storm damage, ongoing safety hazards and a significant volume of repairs across the system. For some customers, storm damage has affected electrical equipment on the customer side of the meter. In these cases, repairs must be completed by a Licensed Electrical Contractor and approved by the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) before service can be safely reconnected. We're working closely with affected customers and dispatching crews as locations become ready for restoration. Our focus remains on safely restoring power to every remaining customer as quickly as possible. We thank our crews, contractors, emergency partners and customers for their patience, understanding and support as we complete the final stages of restoration. For the latest updates, please refer to our outage map, which is updated as crews progress through repairs: https://t.co/3WUxx3zeHy

Outage update: Our teams are working around the clock, with additional resources and all hands-on deck to restore power to the approximately 1,900 customers who remain out due to this week’s severe storm. More than 500 safety reports, including downed lines and electrical hazards, have added significant complexity to restoration efforts. Before power can be restored, crews must safely assess each location, isolate hazards, and repair or replace damaged equipment. We've deployed additional resources and remain committed to restoring homes and business safely. We know being without power for an extended period is challenging, especially heading into the long weekend, and thank our customers and the community for their ongoing patience and support. What is Toronto Hydro's engagement rate on X?
Toronto Hydro (@TorontoHydro) has an engagement rate of 0.002%, based on the median interactions across 12 original posts from the last 30 days against 113,792 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.002%, Toronto Hydro sits below the 10th percentile of the 205,261 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @TorontoHydro have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 7% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts), which puts it in the bottom 10% for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @TorontoHydro post?
Most posts go out around 17:00 UTC, and Thursday is its busiest day, at roughly 0.47 posts per day across the measured window.
