A typical post picks up 718 interactions against 698K followers, an engagement rate of 0.103%. Measured over 18 original posts, its engagement rate beats 71% of 3,862 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 41K times each, and 1.75% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 5.87% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 5.2 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 27% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 06:00 UTC, and Monday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 18 posts sampled, 83% carry an image or video, 6% are part of a thread and 17% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 16K interactions, about 23x its own typical post. Recurring topics include #anc, #biznews, #da.

Compared with accounts its own size

Redi Tlhabi's engagement rate beats 71% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,862 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 8 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 67% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.103%, Redi Tlhabi sits above the 50th percentile of the 37,350 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the above the median band, which runs 0.081% to 0.437%.

As received from a friend "I'm in Vanderbijlpark, picking someone up at the bus stop. As I am waiting, an old lady gets off a bus from EC with her two daughters; they offload their bags. The gogo sits down as they wait for the son to pick them up. Just a few mins in, she collapses. The daughters start screaming and calling for help. Ndiyafowna 112 and get transferred to Vanderbijlpark ambulances. It took them around 10 mins to answer their calls. The lady on the other end refused to send an ambulance because I don't know the age of the woman and what she's sick with. She chose to hang up. Ended up calling ER24, but unfortunately she passed on. The government ambulances only arrive 1 hour later"

Welekazi?! @African_Spring ? What did you do? What did you do? Not you. Not you. I love you so much. I don't understand what I've just read here. Words feel so inadequate. I'm heartbroken, beloved stranger whom I'd never met. But we met...we met...in words, admiration, laughter, love and solidarity. We met in ways more powerful than the physical. And I loved and admired you. I'm comforted that I atleast told you so, multiple times. I can't think of anything that makes your death fair. I'm so twisted inside and I wish you were still here to share your insights, wit, sharp tongue and love for South Africa, with us. You called yourself African Spring - a name filled with youth, hope and the promise of renewal. How unbearably cruel that your own spring should have been so brief. You should have had so many more seasons. We are poorer without you. Go gently African Spring.

A financially sustainable Eskom and successful energy reform are not competing objectives. They are complementary and both are essential. I met with President Cyril Ramaphosa last week to discuss the path ahead. The President reaffirmed government’s commitment to a fully independent, state-owned Transmission System Operator that owns and controls the transmission assets. That is the right policy: it creates a level playing field, unlocks investment, and keeps a strategic national asset in public hands. I raised the Board’s concerns about execution - protecting Eskom’s financial position, ensuring the TSO can invest in expanding and strengthening the grid, and engaging lenders and funders with transparency and responsibility. The President was clear that government will work closely with the Board, the NTCSA, and other stakeholders to implement reform in a way that achieves those outcomes. The Board supports the policy direction set by government. Alignment between shareholder and Board is not a courtesy. It is a requirement if we are to deliver an affordable, reliable and sustainable electricity supply for all South Africans. This is difficult work. It will take discipline, partnership and persistence. But the destination is worth it: a stronger grid, a healthier Eskom, and an energy system that can power growth. That is the commitment we carry as the board. That is the work we will continue. #Eskom #EnergyReform #SouthAfrica #EnergySecurity

Reading these numbers

A typical post picks up 718 interactions against 698K followers, an engagement rate of 0.103%. Measured over 18 original posts, its engagement rate beats 71% of 3,862 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 41K times each, and 1.75% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 5.87% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. What is Redi Tlhabi's engagement rate on X?
Redi Tlhabi (@RediTlhabi) has an engagement rate of 0.103%, based on the median interactions across 18 original posts from the last 30 days against 697,645 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.103%, Redi Tlhabi sits above the 50th percentile of the 37,350 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @RediTlhabi have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 71% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,862 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @RediTlhabi post?
Most posts go out around 06:00 UTC, and Monday is its busiest day, at roughly 5.23 posts per day across the measured window.
