Queensland Fire Department engagement report
@QldFireDept - 87K followers on X
Measured over 20 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on September 28, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 14 interactions against 87K followers, an engagement rate of 0.016%. Measured over 20 original posts, its engagement rate beats 23% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size. That is a reason to look at how the audience behaves - reply depth, saves, whether the followers are recent - rather than a conclusion about it on its own. Posts are seen about 2.0K times each, and 0.692% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 2.34% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.8 post a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 57% of days. Most posts go out around 06:00 UTC, and Wednesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 20 posts sampled, 70% carry an image or video, 5% are part of a thread and 40% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 2.4K interactions, about 172x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
Queensland Fire Department's engagement rate beats 23% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 7 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 31% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.016%, Queensland Fire Department sits above the 10th percentile of the 204,956 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.024%.

Posting timing
This account posts most often around 06:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses
Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.
| Format | This account | Catalog effect | 95% interval | Accounts behind it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image or video | 70% of posts | +111% | +108% to +115% | 34K |
| Outbound link | 40% of posts | -41% | -42% to -40% | 32K |
| Typical length | - | +15% | +14% to +16% | 32K |
- 70% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
- 40% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts, so a large share of this account's output sits in the weakest bucket we measure.
- Its average post runs 510 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.
These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

Queensland Fire and Rescue crews are continuing to assist partner agencies following the discovery of several potentially hazardous objects around Forrest Beach in North Queensland. Specialist QFR Scientific teams have safely secured a number of the items throughout the weekend and remain on scene continuing their work. A 50-metre exclusion zone is still in place. If you come across any suspicious objects in the area, do not touch them. Move away and call Triple Zero (000) immediately. The nature and origin of the debris are still being investigated.

It has been a big few days for our crews who have been battling challenging fire conditions across the state. A huge thank you to the volunteers and personnel who are working hard to protect communities and strengthen containment lines at multiple fires. Heightened fire conditions are still expected over the coming days in parts of Northern and Central Queensland. Remember to keep-up-to-date with the latest bushfire warnings via the QFD website, social media and local radio station. 📸 Nundubbermere, 23 September

Queensland Fire and Rescue mountain rescue crews were called to assist two people stranded on Mount Tibrogargan last night. Their specialist skills and equipment helped bring the pair home safely. If you’re heading outdoors, take a few minutes to prepare before you set off: 📱Research the area you are planning to visit, understand how difficult the terrain might be and ensure it is within your abilities, and that you have the right equipment. 🌧️ Check weather conditions. ☀️ Allow yourself plenty of time to complete the activity before sunset. ⏰ Tell someone your plans, including your expected return time. 🍎 Carry sufficient water, snacks, a fully charged phone and a first aid kit. 📍Stay on marked trails. 📸Mount Tibrogargan 5 Aug 2026

Firefighters responded to more than 70 vegetation fires across the state in the 24 hours to Sunday afternoon, capping off a busy weekend. This included a large fire at Plainland in the Lockyer Valley where more than 20 crews were assisted by waterbombing aircraft to bring the fire under control. While conditions are expected to ease across the state today, Queensland remains in a higher risk bushfire period. Please continue to stay up to date with warnings and informed about conditions in your area.

Whilst fire conditions are expected to ease over the coming days, there is no room for complacency as Queensland remains in its higher risk bushfire period. In these dry conditions, small fires can quickly become out-of-control. Power tools and machinery can spark dangerous fires, so if you are carrying out any work, be alert and carry a water supply and firefighting equipment. 📷: Prenzlau, Sandy Creek & South Ripley

Today is Yellow Ribbon Day 🎗️, a day to say thank you to the more than 27,000 Rural Fire Service Queensland volunteers who give up their weekends, weeknights, and time with loved ones to educate and protect their communities. From preparing for bushfire season to responding when Queenslanders need them most, these volunteers make enormous sacrifices and continuously show up with courage, commitment, and dedication. We know they don’t do it for thanks, but if you know an RFSQ volunteer or have ever been helped by one please take the time today to make sure they know how much their hard work is appreciated!

Queensland Fire and Rescue crews were called to assist with carrying out a person who was injured whilst walking along the Mt Cordeaux section of the Bare Rock Track. The RPAS Unit kept a watchful eye on crews as they navigated the tricky terrain for over two hours while carrying the patient using the ‘big wheel’ stretcher. The drone’s spotlight capability also assisted with lighting the track. It was a team effort with crews working alongside SES personnel and @QldAmbulance paramedics.

Queensland Fire and Rescue technical rescue firefighters were called to assist two climbers stranded at Mt Tibrogargan on Sunday. The climbers were safe and uninjured but required help getting to safety. The Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) kept a close eye on the climbers and our crews as they helped them descend the mountain in windy conditions using a harness system. Well done to all involved 👏

- What is Queensland Fire Department's engagement rate on X?
- Queensland Fire Department (@QldFireDept) has an engagement rate of 0.016%, based on the median interactions across 20 original posts from the last 30 days against 86,678 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.016%, Queensland Fire Department sits above the 10th percentile of the 204,956 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @QldFireDept have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 23% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts), which puts it in the bottom quarter for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @QldFireDept post?
- Most posts go out around 06:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day, at roughly 0.8 posts per day across the measured window.
