Ενώ με τη χθεσινή ανακοίνωση της πρόωρης αποπληρωμής 13 δις μέσα στο 2026, αφήνει πίσω την αρνητική πρωτιά του πιο υπερχρεωμένου κράτους στην ήπειρό μας. Γνωρίζω ότι η είδηση αυτή μπορεί να μην αποκτήσει μεγάλη δημοσιότητα ή να μην γίνεται πολύ εύκολα κατανοητή. Το περιεχόμενό της, ωστόσο, είναι ανεκτίμητο. Γιατί σημαίνει μεγαλύτερη δημοσιονομική ελευθερία για την Πολιτεία. Αλλά και λιγότερες επιβαρύνσεις για τους πολίτες -και κυρίως τους νέους μας. Γι’ αυτό και ο περιορισμός του χρέους υπήρξε μία από τις κεντρικές δεσμεύσεις που ανέλαβα και χαίρομαι που οι επίμονες προσπάθειες της κυβέρνησης και όλων των Ελλήνων την κάνουν, σήμερα, πραγματικότητα. Η χθεσινή εξέλιξη σηματοδοτεί την εκπλήρωση ενός βασικού στόχου και, μάλιστα, νωρίτερα από τον χρόνο που είχαμε θέσει. Έτσι, με ορίζοντα το 2031, το δημόσιο χρέος θα έχει μειωθεί κάτω από 110%, καθώς από το 2021 μέχρι σήμερα έχει συρρικνωθεί κατά το 1/3. Γεγονός που μεταφράζεται σε πολύ μεγαλύτερη εθνική αξιοπιστία. Σε ευνοϊκότερους όρους για τον δανεισμό κράτους και επιχειρήσεων. Και, τελικά, σε περισσότερη ευημερία για όλους. Πρόκειται, συνεπώς, για μία εθνική επιτυχία πέρα και πάνω από την καθημερινή κομματική μιζέρια και μεμψιμοιρία. Συνιστά μια από τις πιο ουσιαστικές κατακτήσεις των Ελληνίδων και των Ελλήνων. Και είναι το αισιόδοξο μήνυμα που πλέον εκπέμπει μία δυναμική οικονομία, δίνοντας προοπτική και ελπίδα σε όλη την κοινωνία. Το είπαμε! Το κάνουμε! Και συνεχίζουμε!

Εκφράζω τη βαθύτατη θλίψη μου για το τραγικό δυστύχημα με τα δύο εκμισθωμένα πυροσβεστικά ελικόπτερα που στοίχισε τη ζωή σε δύο μαχητές της πρώτης γραμμής στον πόλεμο με τις φωτιές υπό πολύ αντίξοες καιρικές συνθήκες -ειδικά για τα εναέρια μέσα μας.
