A typical post picks up 2.1K interactions against 2.0M followers, an engagement rate of 0.107%. Measured over 27 original posts, its engagement rate beats 72% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 289K times each, and 0.742% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 14.4% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 11.2 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on almost every day in the window. Most posts go out around 19:00 UTC, and Wednesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 27 posts sampled, 96% carry an image or video and 19% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 198K interactions, about 92x its own typical post. Recurring topics include #ausa2026, #flyfightwin, #southcom.

Compared with accounts its own size

Pete Hegseth's engagement rate beats 72% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 10 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 40% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.107%, Pete Hegseth sits above the 25th percentile of the 204,880 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the below the median band, which runs 0.024% to 0.143%.

Engagement rate as a share of followers, across the 204,880 accounts we have scanned enough to measure. The axis is logarithmic, because the top and bottom of this population are about 22,891 times apart and a linear axis would flatten everything below the median into a single point.

This account posts most often around 19:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

  • 19% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts.
  • Its average post runs 287 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

This week, Anthropic delivered a master class in arrogance and betrayal as well as a textbook case of how not to do business with the United States Government or the Pentagon. Our position has never wavered and will never waver: the Department of War must have full, unrestricted access to Anthropic’s models for every LAWFUL purpose in defense of the Republic. Instead, @AnthropicAI and its CEO @DarioAmodei, have chosen duplicity. Cloaked in the sanctimonious rhetoric of “effective altruism,” they have attempted to strong-arm the United States military into submission - a cowardly act of corporate virtue-signaling that places Silicon Valley ideology above American lives. The Terms of Service of Anthropic’s defective altruism will never outweigh the safety, the readiness, or the lives of American troops on the battlefield. Their true objective is unmistakable: to seize veto power over the operational decisions of the United States military. That is unacceptable. As President Trump stated on Truth Social, the Commander-in-Chief and the American people alone will determine the destiny of our armed forces, not unelected tech executives. Anthropic’s stance is fundamentally incompatible with American principles. Their relationship with the United States Armed Forces and the Federal Government has therefore been permanently altered. In conjunction with the President's directive for the Federal Government to cease all use of Anthropic's technology, I am directing the Department of War to designate Anthropic a Supply-Chain Risk to National Security. Effective immediately, no contractor, supplier, or partner that does business with the United States military may conduct any commercial activity with Anthropic. Anthropic will continue to provide the Department of War its services for a period of no more than six months to allow for a seamless transition to a better and more patriotic service. America’s warfighters will never be held hostage by the ideological whims of Big Tech. This decision is final.

Back on Active Duty! Our deepest appreciation to @realDonaldTrump and @SecWar @PeteHegseth for keeping their promise to reinstate Service Members who were kicked out for the Covid shot. While I have always remained a Soldier in the Lord’s Army, I am now a Soldier in the U.S. Army once again! The @USArmy is having me lead the effort to reinstate, reconcile, and restore the thousands of warriors of conscience who were unlawfully removed from service. What an honor! Thank you, Secretary @PeteHegseth, for placing your confidence in me to help restore trust, Truth, and righteousness to our military! I look forward to working with @USW_PR_HONTata and his team on this important Presidential priority. God is faithful! Here we go!!! 1 Thessalonians 5:24

Reading these numbers

Recurring topics include #ausa2026, #flyfightwin, #southcom.

What is Pete Hegseth's engagement rate on X?
Pete Hegseth (@PeteHegseth) has an engagement rate of 0.107%, based on the median interactions across 27 original posts from the last 30 days against 2,006,924 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.107%, Pete Hegseth sits above the 25th percentile of the 204,880 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @PeteHegseth have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 72% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @PeteHegseth post?
Most posts go out around 19:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day, at roughly 11.23 posts per day across the measured window.
