A 40 year old male from Pickering also provided a breath sample and registered an Alert. Driver was charged with speeding, stunt driving and careless driving. His licence was also suspended for 30 days and the vehicle impounded for 14 days. Tractor Trailer Collision and Highway Closure: #BurlingtonOPP are investigating after a tractor trailer carrying steel, travelling northbound on #Hwy6 near Conc 12E, struck a construction barrier blocking the northbound lanes. The TT then crossed all lanes striking the barrier on the other side of the highway resulting in a diesel spill into the ditch and a full closure of #Hwy6 in both directions. The collision occurred at 3:37 a.m. and was in an area of lane reductions (1 northbound, 2 southbound) due to ongoing highway maintenance. The closure is expected to last until approximately 10 a.m. Charges are pending. No injuries. No other vehicles involved. Stunt driving charges laid on Highway 404 in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. At approximately 1230 am Sunday morning, a 38 year old male driver from Maple was travelling at 193 km/h in a Mercedes. Driver told the officer that he was going to visit his friend in the hospital. The hospital visit was delayed as the driver had to find alternative transportation after his licence was suspended. At 230 am, a 35 year old female driver from Innisfil, was observed by #AuroraOPP officers travelling at 179 km/h also in a Mercedes. She told the officer she just trying to get home. Officers from #AuroraOPP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 400 in the City of Vaughan when a vehicle went by them at 154 km/h. During the traffic stop officers determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded an imitation firearm, other weapons and a container of open alcohol. A 46 year old male is being charged with multiple offences under the Canadian Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act; Possession of Imitation Weapon for Dangerous Purpose Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) Failure to Comply with Release Order Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Stunt Driving, speeding, driving while under suspension (multiple suspensions) and having liquor readily available The driver is awaiting a bail hearing and his licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle has been impounded for 45 days. The OPP are reminding drivers to drive sober, don’t drink alcohol while operating your vehicle and drive at the speed limit.
