Spectrum News NY1 engagement report
@NY1 - 413K followers on X
Measured over 40 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on August 30, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 8 interactions against 413K followers, an engagement rate of 0.002%. Measured over 40 original posts, its engagement rate beats 12% of 3,917 tracked accounts of a similar size. That is a reason to look at how the audience behaves - reply depth, saves, whether the followers are recent - rather than a conclusion about it on its own. Posts are seen about 3.0K times each, and 0.251% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 0.724% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.3 post a day over the last 30 days, though only 17% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 15:00 UTC, and Friday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 40 posts sampled, 33% carry an image or video and 75% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 159 interactions, about 20x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
Spectrum News NY1's engagement rate beats 12% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,917 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 7 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 19% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.002%, Spectrum News NY1 sits above the 10th percentile of the 37,996 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.012%.

Posting timing
This account posts most often around 15:00 UTC, and Friday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James has joined a coalition of attorneys general and the governor of Pennsylvania in suing the U.S. Postal Service to block a new rule that would give the agency control over mail-in voting in federal elections. Under the proposal, states would need to collect basic voter information, such as a person's name and home address, and enter it into a federal ballot mail portal before it can be accepted by the mail service. The attorneys general allege the rule illegally interferes with their constitutional authority to administer elections because it allows the USPS to reject mail. "The president of the United States voted by mail," James said in an interview with NY1's @errollouis. "It is safe, it's secure, it's been used by a number of states and we're too close to the midterm elections for them to implement this rule, and that's why we are in court again seeking an immediate temporary restraining order stopping this chaos and confusion."

A new ride-hail app called Throo is trying to break into New York City's market by charging drivers a flat $1 fee per ride instead of a commission. The company says its model means lower costs for riders and higher pay for drivers. Throo launched in the city in June and says it's already signed on 53,000 drivers, but it still has a long way to go. The Taxi and Limousine Commission says the app logged just over 2,500 rides in June compared to the 20 million rides Uber and Lyft did that same month.

President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario “Lake America” amid trade tensions between the U.S. and Canada, drawing swift criticism from New York officials. Speaking with NY1, Gov. Kathy Hochul called the move “patently absurd.” “Shame on them for deflecting from the real needs that Americans are feeling, that we have here in New York,” she said. "This is what the president spends his time on? Renaming a lake that was named after our Indigenous peoples? Shame on you.”

- What is Spectrum News NY1's engagement rate on X?
- Spectrum News NY1 (@NY1) has an engagement rate of 0.002%, based on the median interactions across 40 original posts from the last 30 days against 413,110 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.002%, Spectrum News NY1 sits above the 10th percentile of the 37,996 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @NY1 have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 12% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,917 accounts), which puts it in the bottom quarter for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @NY1 post?
- Most posts go out around 15:00 UTC, and Friday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.33 posts per day across the measured window.
