A typical post picks up 8 interactions against 192K followers, an engagement rate of 0.004%. Measured over 98 original posts, its engagement rate beats 14% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size. That is a reason to look at how the audience behaves - reply depth, saves, whether the followers are recent - rather than a conclusion about it on its own. Posts are seen about 1.5K times each, and 0.495% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 0.79% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 3.3 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 17% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 17:00 UTC, and Tuesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 98 posts sampled, 99% carry an image or video and 7% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 61 interactions, about 7.6x its own typical post.

Measured over 98 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on October 12, 2026.

Compared with accounts its own size

MMI News's engagement rate beats 14% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 9 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 26% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.004%, MMI News sits above the 10th percentile of the 204,798 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.024%.

The Secretary General of the Cameroon ruling party, Grégoire Owona, who is also Minister of Labour and Social Security, has declared that President Paul Biya is not interested in appointing a family member to the post of vice president. In an epistle, the SG reiterated that Paul Biya came to power through the Constitution, and that the vice president who will be appointed will not be a member of Biya’s family. “The President of the Republic has never claimed ownership of the presidential office. He therefore has no right to transfer power to an heir. In my opinion, there is therefore no designated successor to Paul Biya. There is no heir to Paul Biya. There is no family succession to Paul Biya,” Grégoire Owona stated. Mr. Owona was responding to a political transition being championed by Barrister Akere Muna, journalists and other civil society groups. He slammed them for excluding members of the government and political leaders, indicating that Cameroon’s Constitution is clear on the question of a successor. In his words, the long absence of the President does not constitute a legal vacancy. “To speak of a ‘heir apparent’ is to introduce into the republican vocabulary a monarchical concept that our institutional system rejects. Paul Biya came to power through the Constitution. He stated that the political history of Cameroon offers a lesson worth pondering.” MMINews

BREAKING: Gunfire has been reported in parts of Bamenda this morning, disrupting what had appeared to be a promising return to economic activity after days of lockdown. Residents in several neighbourhoods say men they believe to be separatist fighters moved through the streets, firing shots and forcing people to seek safety indoors. In Ntarinkon, locals report that two men believed to be separatist fighters arrived on a motorcycle, bought and ate food, and later left the area while firing shots. The reports have triggered panic, with residents seen leaving the streets. The situation remains fluid. There are no independently confirmed reports of casualties at the time of writing. #MMINews

A second victim of Monday’s deadly shooting in Mile 2 Nkwen, Bamenda, has been identified as Fabrice, popularly known as Tenkay. Fabrice, who was from Nso, was among four civilians killed after Ambazonia separatist fighters opened fire at a local bar behind the PMI in Nkwen. Several other people were injured in the attack. His identification comes after Abeltine Bomnyuy, also from Nso, was earlier named as one of those killed. The shooting has left residents of the area shaken as families continue to identify and mourn those killed. #MMINews #Nkwen #Bamenda #AnglophoneCrisis #AmbazoniaSeparatists

The family of one of those killed on Apostle John Chi’s island has signaled its readiness to press charges against the man of God, Ayah Ayah Abine has revealed. “We’ve now come to an agreement in principle with a team of four lawyers and a bereaved family who are ready to press charges against them and who think that religious status confers legal immunity,” Ayah wrote on his Facebook page. According to Fako Senior Divisional Officer Viang Mekala, the five students were killed during a religious pilgrimage on Mudeka Island in Tiko Subdivision. Apostle John Chi has yet to issue a public statement clarifying what happened. However, many have cited negligence as the cause of the deaths. #MMINews

Two people have been injured in a shooting at the Peti Bobo transport agency around Mobile, Nkwen, Bamenda, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. The victims are a truck driver and a Peti Bobo driver, both of whom are receiving medical treatment. According to one of the victims, two armed men entered a Peti Bobo bus and told staff they wanted to travel to the South-West Region. The men reportedly asked for the driver, but when they received no response, they opened fire. The truck driver, who was at the agency at the time, sustained a serious gunshot wound to the stomach and was rushed to the Bamenda Regional Hospital. A Peti Bobo driver was also shot in the hand and received treatment at the PMI Hospital. A local source said he is responding well to treatment. The attackers fled the scene and their identities remain unknown. The shooting comes a day after three people were killed when gunmen opened fire at a local bar behind the PMI in Nkwen. The Divisional Officer has since confirmed the death toll at three. Also on Tuesday, a man was reportedly kidnapped by unidentified gunmen around Guinness Junction in Mile 3. The latest incidents have heightened tension in parts of Bamenda, where sporadic gunfire was also reported earlier on Tuesday as residents attempted to resume economic activities after days of lockdown. #MMINews #Bamenda #Nkwen #Cameroon #AnglophoneCrisis

Cameroonian scientist Dr Richard Munang has officially begun his term as Director of the United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa, UNU-INRA, based in Accra, Ghana. Munang takes up the role on September 14, 2026, placing a Cameroonian at the head of a UN institute focused on how Africa manages its natural resources, climate challenges and development priorities. Before the appointment, Munang held senior roles within the United Nations system, including at the UN Environment Programme and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, where he worked on environmental crime and natural resource governance. UNU-INRA works with African governments, researchers and institutions on issues including climate change, resource management, energy, agriculture and sustainable development. His appointment gives him responsibility for helping shape research and policy work around some of Africa’s biggest questions: how the continent manages its natural wealth, how communities benefit from those resources, and how countries respond to climate and environmental pressures. For Cameroon, the appointment also places one of its own scientists in a senior continental role within the UN system. #MMINews

Daniel Nadjiber, a guest on the “Grand Débat” programme on Cam10 Television, considers the CFAF 75 billion paid by telecom operators to renew their licences insignificant. “For a 20-year licence, that is nothing. The country has been sold off cheaply,” he says. He bases his argument on a simple calculation: 10 million subscribers spending at least CFAF 100 each per day generate CFAF 1 billion daily. According to him, an operator can recover the cost of its licence in less than 75 days. An important clarification: this figure represents revenue, not profit. The amount cited corresponds to the CFAF 75 billion paid in 2015 by Orange Cameroon and MTN Cameroon, each, to renew their licences, including the deployment of 3G and 4G technologies. The two operators had initially offered CFAF 40 billion and CFAF 35 billion, respectively. At the time, a study by US-based consultancy firm Maas Telecom projected profits of CFAF 1,282 billion over ten years for MTN Cameroon and CFAF 750 billion for Orange. Since then, the operators' service quality has been the subject of regular criticism. In December 2018, the Presidency had ordered an audit of their concessions. #MMINews

Cameroonians in Europe have taken to the streets of Brussels, Belgium, demanding the release of political prisoners, including Sisiku Ayuk Tabe, among other Anglophones. They could be seen with a banner on which Paul Biya’s face was crossed out with an X. “Paul assassin,” loosely translated as “Paul Biya, the killer.” They mentioned not only Biya’s name but also those of Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Atanga Nji, and others serving in his government, describing them as assassins. This is not the first time they have protested and demanded the release of political prisoners. #MMINews

Dr Louis Din Dika Akwa is due to be formally crowned King of the Bonambela and Superior Chief of the Akwa Canton in Douala today, October 10, bringing to a climax weeks of ceremonies that have also exposed deep disagreements over the succession. The main coronation ceremony is scheduled to take place on the banks of the Wouri, with organisers expecting more than 3,500 people from across the Akwa community and the wider Sawa population. Louis Din Dika Akwa was selected as Superior Chief of the Akwa Canton following traditional consultations on March 15, 2022. His appointment as a first-class traditional ruler was subsequently approved by a Prime Ministerial decree on January 23, 2023, before his administrative installation in July that year. Today’s ceremony is intended to complete the traditional process of enthronement. But the road to the coronation has been marked by controversy. On September 30, tensions erupted at Mbanya, a site regarded as spiritually important to the Akwa royal tradition, where a preparatory ritual was expected to take place. Police used tear gas during a confrontation involving residents opposed to the ceremony. The dispute centres partly on competing claims over the customary status of Mbanya and opposition from groups challenging aspects of Louis Din Dika Akwa’s succession. The disagreement has also involved administrative and legal questions surrounding the status of Mbanya, while rival interpretations of customary legitimacy have continued despite the government’s recognition of Louis Din Dika Akwa as Superior Chief. Traditional authorities supporting the coronation maintain that the rituals form part of longstanding Akwa customs and that the process leading to his administrative recognition was properly conducted. Despite the disputes, organisers maintained the October 10 programme, describing the ceremony as a celebration of Bonambela history, identity and the transmission of Sawa traditions to younger generations. The Akwa Canton comprises 20 villages spread across several subdivisions of Douala. As thousands gather for today’s ceremonies, the coronation is therefore taking place against two parallel realities: an official and traditional celebration of a new reign, and unresolved disagreements among sections of the community over succession, customary authority and sacred sites. #MMINews

Cameroon’s National Gendarmerie says security forces have discovered 4,094 rounds of ammunition hidden in bushland in Kalakafra, Logone-et-Chari Division of the Far North Region. The discovery was made during the sixth phase of Operation Tentacules, a security operation launched in January and covering several localities including Kousseri, Blangoua, Hilé-Alifa and Afadé. The gendarmerie also reported recovering locally manufactured firearms and hundreds of bladed weapons during the operation. Authorities further said they dismantled what they described as a dormant terrorist cell in Kousseri. Details about the suspects and their alleged activities have not yet been made public. The operation comes amid continuing security concerns in Logone-et-Chari, where Boko Haram and other armed groups have carried out attacks over the years. #MMINews #Cameroon #FarNorth #Security #LogoneEtChari

What is MMI News's engagement rate on X?
MMI News (@MimiMefoInfo) has an engagement rate of 0.004%, based on the median interactions across 98 original posts from the last 30 days against 191,791 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.004%, MMI News sits above the 10th percentile of the 204,798 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @MimiMefoInfo have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 14% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts), which puts it in the bottom quarter for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @MimiMefoInfo post?
Most posts go out around 17:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day, at roughly 3.27 posts per day across the measured window.
