Dünya Savaşı yılları. 🔺Kartın üzerinde “Uesküb, Zigeunergruppe mit Wohnhaus”; yani “Üsküp, Roman topluluğu ve evleri” yazıyor. 🔺1912’de yaklaşık beş asırlık Osmanlı hâkimiyetinden çıkan Üsküp, bu fotoğrafın çekildiği 1916’da savaşın tam ortasındaydı. 🔺Şehir, 1915 sonbaharında Bulgar ordusunun eline geçmiş ve merkezi Üsküp olan askeri idarenin yönetimine girmişti. 🔺Fotoğrafta kerpiç ve taş duvarlı, kiremit çatılı mütevazı bir evin önünde kadınları, erkekleri ve çok sayıda çocuğu bir arada görünüyor. 🔺Büyük savaşların tarihini çoğu zaman ordular ve komutanlar üzerinden okuyoruz.
