A typical post picks up 97 interactions against 1.0M followers, an engagement rate of 0.01%. Measured over 43 original posts, its engagement rate beats 34% of 3,774 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 22K times each, and 0.434% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 2.23% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.6 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on almost every day in the window. Most posts go out around 13:00 UTC, and Friday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 43 posts sampled, 98% carry an image or video. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 590 interactions, about 6.1x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size

Kolkata Police's engagement rate beats 34% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,774 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 9 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 29% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.01%, Kolkata Police sits above the 10th percentile of the 36,521 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.012%.

It has come to notice of Kolkata Police that a highly false and misleading thumbnail/ news was aired through social media handles of R Bangla connecting name of Ld. Commissioner of Police Kolkata with an alleged land scam in Anandapur Kolkata. The fact of the issue is that Enforcement Directorate had recently communicated further developments in the ongoing investigation to Kolkata Police, pursuant to which the process of further investigation was being duly undertaken under the supervision of the Ld. Commissioner of Police, Kolkata. In these circumstances, the reporting, without ascertaining the correct factual position, is wholly irresponsible, unfortunate and unbecoming of a National broadcaster and has caused unwarranted prejudice to the reputation and credibility of the Ld. CP Kolkata, as well as Kolkata Police as an institution. Republic Bangla is hereby called upon to issue an unconditional apology and prominent correction/retraction forthwith, failing which necessary legal action shall be initiated. @BanglaRepublic

Jamtara Gang Running Fake Call Centre Busted; 11 Arrested Acting on credible information that a group of youths from Bihar was operating a fake call centre from a hotel in the New Market area, a raid was conducted by Park Street Police Station. A total of 11 persons were arrested, primarily from Jamui district of Bihar and Deoghar district of Jharkhand. The gang was found to be operating in the modus operandi of a Jamtara-style cyber fraud gang. The accused persons had allegedly formed an organised cybercrime syndicate by impersonating government officials and operating a fraudulent scheme using a look-alike PM-KISAN scheme. They randomly circulated malicious Telegram links through mobile phones, luring unsuspecting victims with promises of lucrative benefits. The links were allegedly used to gain unauthorised access to victims’ mobile phones and fraudulently obtain their Aadhaar details for further misuse. During the raid, 20 mobile phones were seized from the accused persons. Examination of the devices revealed various mobile applications and digital tools allegedly used to operate the racket and target and dupe unsuspecting victims. Investigation is in progress.

Reading these numbers

A typical post picks up 97 interactions against 1.0M followers, an engagement rate of 0.01%. That is about 2.23% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. What is Kolkata Police's engagement rate on X?
Kolkata Police (@KolkataPolice) has an engagement rate of 0.01%, based on the median interactions across 43 original posts from the last 30 days against 1,002,588 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.01%, Kolkata Police sits above the 10th percentile of the 36,521 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @KolkataPolice have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 34% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,774 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @KolkataPolice post?
Most posts go out around 13:00 UTC, and Friday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.57 posts per day across the measured window.
