Just Stop Oil engagement report
@JustStop_Oil - 145K followers on X
Measured over 10 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on September 26, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 709 interactions against 145K followers, an engagement rate of 0.487%. Measured over 10 original posts, its engagement rate beats 81% of 20,689 tracked accounts of a similar size. Comparing inside a size band matters here: engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly just re-measure the follower count. Posts are seen about 15K times each, and 4.86% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 10.1% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.97 post a day over the last 30 days, though only 27% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 16:00 UTC, and Wednesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 10 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video, 20% are part of a thread and 80% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 2.6K interactions, about 3.7x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
Just Stop Oil's engagement rate beats 81% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,689 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 8 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 85% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.487%, Just Stop Oil sits above the 50th percentile of the 208,784 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the above the median band, which runs 0.144% to 0.685%.

Posting timing
This account posts most often around 16:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses
Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.
| Format | This account | Catalog effect | 95% interval | Accounts behind it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image or video | 100% of posts | +111% | +108% to +115% | 34K |
| Outbound link | 80% of posts | -41% | -42% to -40% | 32K |
| Typical length | - | +15% | +14% to +16% | 32K |
- 100% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
- 80% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts, so a large share of this account's output sits in the weakest bucket we measure.
- Its average post runs 455 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.
These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

🚨 SLOW MARCHERS FOUND NOT GUILTY BY A JURY Hey @SuellaBraverman, turns out juries don't like when you invent anti-protest laws designed to imprison people for 12 months just for marching. Six Just Stop Oil supporters were acquitted by a jury in Southwark Crown Court today, despite the judge removing all their legal defences. This is only the second Section 7 trial that has happened, despite hundreds of people having been arrested and charged for slow marching. Press release: https://t.co/qBBrkQsmFO

84 year old retired priest Reverend Sue Parfitt has just been arrested in Parliament Square. "How much more suffering and pain and death are we prepared to allow?" The first duty of government is to keep citizens safe, but by prioritising the interests of fossil fuel companies and billionaires, they're failing to do this. We're all Just Stop Oil now. 🚨 FINAL ARRESTS IN PARLIAMENT SQUARE All 60 people blocking the roads have now been arrested. Once again we've been putting our bodies on the line, risking arrest and even imprisonment, because we do not consent to plans that will result in 3C of warming and mass death. One of the last to be arrested was Jo, who sat in the road for over 4 hours. Listen to her explain why she took action today. We are all Just Stop Oil now. BREAKING: NOT GUILTY FOR SLOW MARCHING 7 Just Stop Oil supporters were found not guilty today by a majority jury verdict. This was the fourth acquittal this year for the 2023 slow marches. In 2023 Sam Griffiths was remanded for 21 days for his action on Cromwell Road which lasted 16 minutes. Following the verdict Jamie Russell, 52, from Shrewsbury said: "In our evidence we included a report by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries which states that if we hit 2C by 2050 we will see two billion deaths. The CPS and the judge allowed this to go into 'Agreed Facts' – meaning it was not in dispute. When faced with mass death on this scale, what else can ordinary people do but enter into civil resistance?’" More details in the press release: https://t.co/n4uxHbtiaO

They really don't want us back. As people are released after taking nonviolent action yesterday, we're witnessing the draconian bail conditions @metpoliceuk are imposing on them. Some people are being banned from communicating with their codefendants. Some are banned from the city of Westminster, which is a clear interference with the democratic right to speak to your MP in Parliament. Multiple people had their train tickets, senior railcards and oyster cards confiscated, before being released between 3-5am with no means of communication or way home. Why? One custody officer told an arrestee they didn't know, only that the orders "came from on high". This approach is disgraceful. When we take nonviolent action, we expect to be arrested. But this response shows how rattled the government are - they'd rather silence people than take meaningful action to save billions of lives. Approving oil and gas projects is a death sentence. 🚨 BREAKING: NOT GUILTY FOR SLOW MARCHING 7 Just Stop Oil supporters have been acquitted in Southwark Crown Court today after the jury deliberated for 7 and a half hours. Their trial took place last week - during the hottest June on record. This is the second acquittal for this action. They were arrested for marching across Waterloo Bridge in November 2023. BREAKING: NOT GUILTY FOR SLOW MARCHING 3 Just Stop Oil supporters were found not guilty by unanimous jury verdict after just one hour. This was the third acquittal this year for the 2023 slow marches Following the verdict Alex, 22, from Abingdon said: “The action we took in 2023 helped to put fossil fuels on trial and there was a clear verdict: fossil fuels are killing us. There can be no new oil and gas drilling anywhere. “The fact that Labour is now appealing that verdict, breaking their manifesto commitments by allowing new oil and gas projects such as Jackdaw and Rosebank is frankly terrifying after this summer of heatwaves, droughts and wildfires. How many people have to die before they will act like the climate crisis is real?” More details in the press release: https://t.co/io3edjNZpA

Retired care worker Polly has just been arrested for nonviolently blocking the road outside Parliament, calling for the government to sign a Fossil Fuel Treaty. - What is Just Stop Oil's engagement rate on X?
- Just Stop Oil (@JustStop_Oil) has an engagement rate of 0.487%, based on the median interactions across 10 original posts from the last 30 days against 145,086 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.487%, Just Stop Oil sits above the 50th percentile of the 208,784 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.

Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @JustStop_Oil post?
- Most posts go out around 16:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day, at roughly 0.97 posts per day across the measured window.
