A typical post picks up 3 interactions against 73K followers, an engagement rate of 0.004%. Measured over 14 original posts, its engagement rate beats 9% of 21,185 tracked accounts of a similar size. That is a reason to look at how the audience behaves - reply depth, saves, whether the followers are recent - rather than a conclusion about it on its own. Posts are seen about 1.8K times each, and 0.166% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 2.47% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.5 post a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 50% of days. Most posts go out around 15:00 UTC, and Monday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 14 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video and 29% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 14K interactions, about 4831x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size

Hydro One's engagement rate beats 9% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (21,185 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 6 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 8% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.004%, Hydro One sits above the 10th percentile of the 213,098 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.025%.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

We are aware that Lake Ontario is being incorrectly labeled on our outage map. The issue originates from a third-party mapping service. We are working with our vendor to correct the issue as quickly as possible and restore the proper geographic reference. We regret the error and apologize for any confusion it has caused.

#OutageUpdate: Restoration efforts are ongoing, and our crews continue working as safely and quickly as possible to restore power following several rounds of severe thunderstorms. Additional support from contractors, utility partners and crews from across the province has been deployed to assist in the hardest-hit areas. Due to the extent of the damage, a significant number of customers in impacted areas are expected to remain without power overnight. The risk of moderate to severe thunderstorms and extreme heat remains in place into tomorrow, and additional outages are possible. For the latest outage information, visit our outage map: https://t.co/bv13YDnHEG. #SafetyReminders: ⚠️ Stay at least 10 metres away from any downed power line and report it by calling 911 and Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235. ⚠️ If you are using a generator, ensure it is outdoors and positioned away from windows, doors and ventilation openings to prevent carbon monoxide exposure. 💦 For information on cooling centres in your community call 211.

Powered by Canadian partnership. This year, a 254,000 pound Mobile Transformer Unit traveled 2,000 kilometres from Winnipeg to Orillia Transmission Station. Built by PTI Transformers, Canada’s largest 100% Canadian owned transformer manufacturer and a long time Hydro One supplier, the unit is now in place as a critical backup for planned station upgrades. The result: stronger grid resilience and reliable power for Orillia and Simcoe County now and for the future. “Every transformer we build is designed and manufactured in Canada, by Canadians. Delivering this Mobile Transformer Unit to Orillia is a proud moment for our team and a reflection of the trust we've built with Hydro One over many years of working together.” – George Partyka, CEO, PTI Transformers. Working with Canadian suppliers like PTI helps us invest locally and keep communities powered, safely and reliably.

#RestorationUpdate: Crews and contractors continue to restore power following several rounds of severe thunderstorms earlier this week. Extensive damage continues to be uncovered as crews arrive on site, which may result in estimated restoration times changing as assessments and repairs progress. Helicopters are also assisting with damage assessment and restoration efforts. As communities are restored, crews are redeployed to help in other affected locations. ⚠️ The risk of moderate to severe thunderstorms continues into this evening for southern Ontario. The majority of customers are expected to be restored by the end of day, today. Restoration for customers in rural, remote and hard-to-reach locations, including islands, will continue into the weekend. #SafetyReminders: ⚠️ Stay safe and cool in the heat. For information about cooling centres in your community, call 211. ⚠️ If you spot a fallen power line, stay safe by remaining at least 10 metres back and report it to 911 and Hydro One.

Restoration Update: Significant progress continues to be made this weekend, with thunderstorms expected to pass Saturday evening. We prioritize restoration by repairing main lines and critical infrastructure, which restores power to the greatest number of customers, before addressing smaller, localized outages. In a number of locations, our crews are also repairing power lines that serve fewer customers. In many instances, power is restored to 20 or fewer customers each time. For information on cooling centres in your community call 211. If you spot a fallen power line, stay safe by remaining at least 10 metres back and reporting it to 911 and to Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.

A recent job in Port Hope came with a special visitor. After checking out our helicopter operations up close, a young resident went home inspired and sent the crews this amazing drawing. It’s these small but meaningful moments, connecting with communities and inspiring the next generation—that make our work so rewarding.

Why climb a 40-ft pole while keeping a raw egg intact? Because linework isn't just about speed: it's about precision, focus and safety. On National Lineworker Appreciation Day, we're recognizing the skilled professionals who help keep Ontario powered through every season and in all kinds of conditions. We're also grateful to the families who support them through long hours, callouts and storm response. See how these skills were put to the test at Grid Games, our annual event celebrating the trade and the people behind it.

Yesterday in Walkerton, we joined the community to celebrate the opening of the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo. To power this five-day event, our crews installed 228 poles, 48 transformers and built nearly 14 kilometres of power lines. For more than 20 years, our teams have proudly built and operated the temporary electrical grid supporting 500 vendors and an expected 100,000 visitors. Wonderful to share the grounds with community leaders, elected officials and volunteers. Thank you to Premier Doug Ford @fordnation, Minister @samoosterhoff, Minister @LisaThompsonPC, Minister Stephen Lecce @Sflecce and Associate Minister Matthew Rae @Rae_Matt. Agriculture is a cornerstone of Ontario's economy and many of the communities we serve. We are dedicated to working alongside farming and rural communities to support local priorities.

What is Hydro One's engagement rate on X?
Hydro One (@HydroOne) has an engagement rate of 0.004%, based on the median interactions across 14 original posts from the last 30 days against 72,971 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.004%, Hydro One sits above the 10th percentile of the 213,098 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @HydroOne have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 9% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (21,185 accounts), which puts it in the bottom 10% for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @HydroOne post?
Most posts go out around 15:00 UTC, and Monday is its busiest day, at roughly 0.5 posts per day across the measured window.
