A typical post picks up 482 interactions against 130K followers, an engagement rate of 0.371%. Measured over 26 original posts, its engagement rate beats 77% of 21,185 tracked accounts of a similar size. Comparing inside a size band matters here: engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly just re-measure the follower count. Posts are seen about 40K times each, and 1.20% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 31.0% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.5 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 60% of days. Most posts go out around 13:00 UTC, and Tuesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 26 posts sampled, 58% carry an image or video and 15% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 6.6K interactions, about 14x its own typical post. Recurring topics include #lgm, #69rewind, #metsrewind.

Compared with accounts its own size

Howie Rose's engagement rate beats 77% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (21,185 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 8 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 46% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.371%, Howie Rose sits above the 50th percentile of the 213,570 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the above the median band, which runs 0.147% to 0.699%.

Engagement rate as a share of followers, across the 213,570 accounts we have scanned enough to measure. The axis is logarithmic, because the top and bottom of this population are about 22,410 times apart and a linear axis would flatten everything below the median into a single point.

Formats this account uses

Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.

  • 58% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
  • 15% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts.
  • Its average post runs 213 characters, which falls in the 180 - 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts of 180 to 280 characters match the same accounts' other posts almost exactly.

These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

Now that I’m an old, retired guy I want to publicly thank several Mets’ personnel who made yesterday one of the most memorable days of my life. Owners Steve and Alex Cohen, Katie Haas, Lauren O’Keefe, Laura South, Jay Horwitz, Zach Weber, Ethan Wilson, Tara Napoli and Lauren Hurvitz conspired to pivot from the original plan to bring my family and me to tears from their kindness and improvisation. Throw in the Mets in house production team and they took a dicey weather situation and turned it into a glowing rainbow. I am eternally grateful for their efforts and will never forget the fruits of their labor. Every one of them have a place in my heart.

Thrilled to hear that Andy Green has been given a three year extension to stay on as manager. A.J. Ewing told me recently that Andy is the best motivational leader for whom he has ever played. I think he’s done a splendid job challenging and pushing the youngsters and getting his pitchers out at the right time. Zac Thornton said that getting that double play ball from Anthony Volpe to get through the 7th inning for the first time thanks to Andy leaving him in the game at that point helped him grow up a bit making him feel that he belonged. @Mets made a great decision.

It is such a pleasure to watch A.J. Ewing bounce back from a prolonged slump the way he has over the past several games. Andy Green has done a great job knowing when to push him and when to give him a day. Very encouraging sign from a promising young player.

Congratulations to friends and broadcast brethren Tommy Hutton in Miami, Rick Rizzs in Seattle, Mike Krukow in San Francisco and Buck Martinez in Toronto all of whom are retiring today after brilliant careers in the booth. Also, best wishes for a speedy recovery to the Giants’ Duane Kuiper who is dealing with throat cancer and expects to be back on the job next season. All have left indelible marks on their respective franchises.

I never met Dolly Parton, but having worked at country music station WHN, I knew many people who did. The love, respect, and absolute reverence with which they all spoke of her coincides with her public image. A true icon and philanthropist. RIP to this most special person.

What is Howie Rose's engagement rate on X?
Howie Rose (@HowieRose) has an engagement rate of 0.371%, based on the median interactions across 26 original posts from the last 30 days against 129,552 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.371%, Howie Rose sits above the 50th percentile of the 213,570 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @HowieRose have real engagement?

Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
