A big thank you to the New South Wales police for their strong actions last night. It's about time the police took control of the streets from intimidatory protesters. Well done premier Chris Minns for showing the strength needed against the kind of pro-terrorist protests we've seen too often. What else can explain the governmentâs increasingly harsh denunciations of Israel, its alacrity in issuing visas to largely unvetted people from Gaza, its secret repatriation of âISIS bridesâ, and its recognition of Palestine in a massive concession to the âriver to the seaâ protesters? As we mourn those who lost their lives on Sunday, thereâs also a reckoning that must take place. Thereâs been a colossal failure to crush the Jew hatred thatâs festered in Australia over the past two years and to stamp out the radical Islamist ideology thatâs allowed it to spread. We must stop importing these ideologies and the people who live by them into Australia. They are at odds with Australiaâs core Anglo-Celtic culture and fundamental Judeo-Christian ethos, which has made us one of the most free, fair and safe societies in the world.

Under AUKUS, Australian sailors are embedded on US submarines to learn how to crew nuclear-powered subs. So when the USS Charlotte torpedoed an Iranian frigate, you'd expect our personnel to be at their stations. Instead, our government ordered them to their bunks. Our people were little more than submarine tourists. This government suffers from a kind of practical pacifism, where the only circumstances our armed forces might conceivably be permitted to fire a shot in anger is at an enemy actually bombing Darwin. At some point, the US president who's supposed to give Australia up to five Virginia class nuclear powered submarines is going to ask why he should divert firepower to a country that won't use it. Could a country that benches personnel already embarked on a US sub ever be trusted to be at America's side when it really counts? Congratulations to Narendra Modi on becoming Indiaâs longest serving PM. He hasnât just held office, heâs dramatically improved his country, with more infrastructure, better IT, and practical things like power and sanitation extended to remote villages. Under Modi, India has become the worldâs third superpower while maintaining free elections, a riotously free media and a robustly independent judiciary. But for him, and the late Shinzo Abe, there would be no Quad so the entire free world owes him a debt of gratitude.

The Bondi massacre was preceded by two years of governmental failure to deal with unAustralian Jew hatred and complacency towards Islamic extremism. Now the moral failure of the Labor government has been compounded by the political failure of the Coalition. When a palpably inadequate government faces an opposition seemingly in deep crisis our country is in trouble. Good very rarely comes from laws that are revised on the run, and passed in haste with who knows what unintended consequences.

Especially today, my instinctive sympathy remains with all of our special forces soldiers from the Afghanistan campaign, fighting at our countryâs command against a merciless enemy, often under highly restrictive rules of engagement that meant known terrorists were captured and released many times. As prime minister during multiple deployments, and having spent time with our troops in war-zones, I could not have asked for a more loyal and professional military and my respect for their service is undiminished. Of course, there are rules that have to be observed and enforced, even against soldiers in times of war. Still, itâs wrong to judge the actions of men in mortal combat by the standards of ordinary civilian life. If Ben Roberts-Smith transgressed, why wasnât this picked up prior to his gallantry awards and why wasnât any culture of brutality towards prisoners detected by his more senior officers, and dealt with quickly, rather than being allowed to fester, as has been alleged, for over a decade? The Brereton investigation commenced in 2016 and only concluded in 2020. The first war crime charge against a former special forces soldier was only laid in 2023 and three years later, this has still not been finalised. After doing their best to serve our country, dozens of former special forces soldiers should not still be in limbo years later because of ongoing investigations that have only resulted in charges in two cases. Justice delayed is justice denied. If evidence is clear, and cases are strong, they should be brought and concluded without delay. Otherwise, people should be cleared to get on with their lives lest the process itself become the punishment. In Afghanistan, our soldiers fought bravely and well for a just cause. I am very sorry that some of them have been subjected to a form of persecution by the country they served.
