Halifax_Police engagement report
@HfxRegPolice - 133K followers on X
Measured over 46 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on September 30, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 12 interactions against 133K followers, an engagement rate of 0.009%. Measured over 46 original posts, its engagement rate beats 19% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size. That is a reason to look at how the audience behaves - reply depth, saves, whether the followers are recent - rather than a conclusion about it on its own. Posts are seen about 4.2K times each, and 0.286% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 3.16% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.5 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 67% of days. Most posts go out around 18:00 UTC, and Tuesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 46 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video and 26% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 90 interactions, about 7.5x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
Halifax_Police's engagement rate beats 19% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 8 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 15% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.009%, Halifax_Police sits above the 10th percentile of the 205,374 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.024%.

Formats this account uses
Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.
| Format | This account | Catalog effect | 95% interval | Accounts behind it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image or video | 100% of posts | +111% | +108% to +115% | 34K |

- 100% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
- 26% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts.
- Its average post runs 897 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.
These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

Police are issuing a public safety warning after two sudden deaths in the community. Over the last 24 hours, police have responded to two sudden deaths and a person found in serious medical distress who was transported to the hospital. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Service is conducting autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death in both incidents. The investigations are in the early stages. In the event that these incidents are determined to be drug-related, the police are reminding the public to be cautious as illicit drugs may contain unknown substances, including highly potent opioids such as fentanyl that can significantly increase the risk of overdose, serious injury, or death. If you see someone experiencing an overdose, call 911 immediately. Signs of an overdose may include difficulty breathing, unconsciousness, vomiting, blue or grey lips or fingernails, or an inability to wake the person. If available, administer naloxone and follow emergency dispatcher instructions until help arrives.

Police continue to investigate the homicide of Jason MacCullough Today marks the 27th anniversary of the homicide of Jason MacCullough. On August 28, 1999, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Jason, 19, was found deceased on a paved path between 100 and 104 Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth. Investigators believe Jason was passing through the area while walking home and used the well-known short-cut between the buildings. There is no indication that Jason was involved in any type of criminal activity, leading investigators to believe his death was a random act. The Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case. Investigators believe there were several people in the area at the time of the homicide and strongly believe there were witnesses to the crime. Police continue to urge these people to come forward and share anything that they remember about this day, no matter how small the detail. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 902-490-5020; even the smallest piece of information could progress the investigation. Jason’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. Callers must contact the Rewards Program at 1-888-710-9090, must provide their name and contact information, and may be called to testify in court. All calls will be recorded. The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided. #99-32436 -30-

- What is Halifax_Police's engagement rate on X?
- Halifax_Police (@HfxRegPolice) has an engagement rate of 0.009%, based on the median interactions across 46 original posts from the last 30 days against 132,742 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.009%, Halifax_Police sits above the 10th percentile of the 205,374 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @HfxRegPolice have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 19% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts), which puts it in the bottom quarter for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @HfxRegPolice post?
- Most posts go out around 18:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.53 posts per day across the measured window.
