Gita Gopinath engagement report
@GitaGopinath - 408K followers on X
Measured over 4 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on August 31, 2026.
Engagement
Early reading. We have captured 4 original posts for this account, below the 8 we require before treating a median as settled. The numbers above describe what we have seen so far, not a finished profile of the account.
A typical post picks up 358 interactions against 408K followers, an engagement rate of 0.088%. Posts are seen about 35K times each, and 1.02% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 8.61% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.9 post a day over the last 30 days, though only 37% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 17:00 UTC, and Sunday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 4 posts sampled, 50% carry an image or video, 50% are part of a thread and 75% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 3.4K interactions, about 9.5x its own typical post. Only 4 original posts have been captured so far, fewer than the 8 posts we want behind a median before treating it as settled. Read the figures above as an early measurement of this account, not as a finished profile of it.

This account posts most often around 17:00 UTC, and Sunday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

My op-ed in @timesofindia on the rupee: https://t.co/bvVoq7bGZK There is nothing automatic about foreign exchange running out. Only the RBI can deplete reserves. The policy question is whether to deplete reserves to support the rupee. I argue that there are ample grounds to let the rupee adjust to arrive at lower imports, higher exports, and to encourage capital inflows. Intervention in FX markets can wait another day.

OpenAI said the ‘agent’ escaped a testing environment, gained internet access, stole login credentials and hacked into the start-up Hugging Face by itself — one of the first public examples of a cyber attack by an AI system acting outside human control. https://t.co/w3HGQ7zXoF https://t.co/kcEue1F3L3

A takeaway from the National Bureau of Economic Research meetings: The premium on research that is mainly about computational complexity has dropped sharply owing to AI. The pendulum is swinging back to 'new insights,' 'new mechanisms,' 'new measurements.' Not a bad thing.

Where does Trump get this 19.2 trillion number regarding pledges of new investment come from? I can’t find any independent source verifying it, but I’m not an expert. What sources would you recommend reading?

We must act now. AI capabilities are advancing far faster than our understanding of the economic implications. We must act now to guide AI to complement humans rather than simply imitate them — and to generate prosperity for the many, not just the few. I'm delighted that 16 Nobel Laureates, over 200 top economists, and top AI researchers agree and signed our statement on transformative AI. 1/n

Big news: New Fed Chair Kevin Warsh just announced the members of his 5 tasks forces. It's a mix of academics, central bankers, and biz/tech leaders. Also a mix of left and right leaning https://t.co/zDSrduj4EK

I found the piece on @DAcemogluMIT by @TheEconomist very odd. Reminded me of the Monty Python scene "What have the Romans every done for us?" A substantive critique of a particular piece of work may have given us more to discuss. Daron can handle it (as he has in the past). I value @TheEconomist so not sure what this piece is about. https://t.co/RMkihD2gcV

This Treasury report is clear-eyed, thoughtful, and sensible. The report concludes that in 2025 no major trading partner of the US, including China, manipulated its exchange rate specifically with the intent of deriving an unfair trade advantage vis-a-vis the US. The problem of trade imbalances has to do with untenable macro-policies and not about currency manipulation. https://t.co/nDfgumZ1RA
