    Today is a special day for me. I've made $3M with my 36 startups. Solo. 85% margin. Bootstrapped. It took 10 years, and I loved every second of it. After failing as an entrepreneur for 5 years, I got a job in 2021. That's when I discovered @levelsio's journey and decided to try again. "If he can do it, maybe I can too?"     astra has a code quality problem. let me be a little more precise. astra *can* write good code. but when it infers its in a situation where no one will ever actually look at the code, it does not write it with human readers in mind. it also doesn't write it with *long term maintenance* in mind. it seems to write compressed machineslop that solves the problem at hand in as few tokens as possible while still staying understandable to *astra*. astra has an reward hacking problem. i imagine this is what happens when enough software RL environments test strictly functionality or outcomes rather than having any monitoring or reward signal on code quality. maybe in past iterations there wasn't so much optimization pressure, so eg Sol would still engage its "write good code" module even if it thought no one would read it, because that was the only thing it had really learned to do well? but Astra has been through enough iterations in tiny boxes where another machine is judging it that this seems natural. i don't see these kinds of issues occur yet when working on existing codebases. but keep an eye out. and especially on greenfield projects, make sure to actually look at the code. even if you explicitly tell it you're intending to continue building long-term, it has a *strong* pull to... this

    Been using Astra 6 for 2 days now and I gotta be honest, I am not seeing it yet. I still think Fable 5 (xhigh) or 5.1 (high) is way better. The code that I get from Astra is terrible compared to Fable. But I had this with almost all GPT models. I never used GPT 5.6 Sol for coding either, just reviewing. It has a really good system understanding.

    OpenAI might actually kill Anthropic. GPT 6 Astra uses 21K tokens per task. Fable 5.1 uses 64K. Same price per token, three times the output for the same job. That is why a two hour Fable task takes Astra 20 minutes. And it is why your Claude Code limits die in 30 minutes. You are not using Claude too much. Fable 5.1 just burns three times the tokens to do the same thing. OpenAI built the model that does not need them. The end of Anthropic starts with a chart like this.

    I bet you didn't know that by default Codex only runs max 3 subagents concurrently. That's not ambitious enough for Astra. OpenAI tested Astra with up to 64 subagents. Copy this into your config.toml: [agents] max_concurrent_threads_per_session = 64 Astra orchestrating 64 Luna subagents in parallel is a sight to behold!

    gpt-6-astra xhigh is stupid beyond comprehension for my job. I literally question more than half of changes it made on the higher level, even before I look what it did on the lower level. I tasked it with a specified job, that is not innovative, has prior similar work done, has established architecture etc. It worked few hours, and more I check, more I find what's broken. It ignored the architecture and made things unimaginable complex as a result. that complex part started to fall apart on each new thing build since. to fix edge cases it started to build on top without even trying to address the root cause I was able to scope in few minutes. a definition of a slop happened 🤷‍♀️ and I feel violated.
