Eric Balchunas engagement report
@EricBalchunas - 629K followers on X
Measured over 51 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on October 8, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 86 interactions against 629K followers, an engagement rate of 0.014%. Measured over 51 original posts, its engagement rate beats 38% of 21,185 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 22K times each, and 0.389% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 3.52% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 4.2 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 50% of days. Most posts go out around 11:00 UTC, and Monday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 51 posts sampled, 88% carry an image or video, 31% are part of a thread and 14% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 13K interactions, about 147x its own typical post. Recurring topics include #creepy, #etfs, #horror.

Compared with accounts its own size
Eric Balchunas's engagement rate beats 38% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (21,185 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 10 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 25% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.014%, Eric Balchunas sits above the 10th percentile of the 212,656 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.025%.

Formats this account uses
Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.
| Format | This account | Catalog effect | 95% interval | Accounts behind it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image or video | 88% of posts | +111% | +108% to +115% | 34K |
| Outbound link | 14% of posts | -41% | -42% to -40% | 32K |
| Typical length | - | no effect | -2% to -1% | 42K |
- 88% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
- 14% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts.
- Its average post runs 270 characters, which falls in the 180 - 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts of 180 to 280 characters match the same accounts' other posts almost exactly.
These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

Here is the full length creepy Rumplestiltskin video - it is NOT from an old movie, it's AI generated by a Russian woman on Instagram, which makes it even creepier. #rumplestiltskin #creepy #horror https://t.co/05tz1rdHeJ

I published a note today that I've been thinking about for months.. About how the US stock market has arguably become too big and too imp to fail.. It's basically America's retirement fund now and poss even the savior of social security which is expected to run out of money in less than 10yrs -Curr 55% of ppl own stocks, by far most in world. And w/ Trump Accounts bringing in 28 million add'l americans into stock ownership the vast majority of ppl (incl Top 1% (who own HALF of stock mkt), middle class and lower income) will have financial interest in the health of stock mkt and they're all voters = the political pressure to keep stocks out of a prolonged bear market is going to be very powerful. -As such I think there's good chance the Fed will buy equity ETFs in the next major downturn to support market and it will be common practice going fwd. China and Japan already do this. They may even target certain sectors or Capex cos with the purchases. -This is a massive variable that I feel like is a blind spot among the experts out there and why the bears get run over time and time again altho I think investors are onto it as evidenced by the persistent flows into ETFs during pullbacks as well as a survey of 1000 ppl showing 3/4 of them are confident the Fed will bail out markets in next crisis. -This is just one byproduct of the 'Nothing Stops This Train' monetary supply explosion and debt extravaganza sweeping the world but esp in US which at this point feels irreversable.. Thoughts? lol

Sorkin’s THE SOCIAL RECKONING is one of the most insipid, ugly, flat films of the year — an insufferably sanctimonious fantasia of blue-state Boomers that traps Jeremy Strong in a man-child performance that unintentionally echoes Martin Short in CLIFFORD. https://t.co/ZNR669UVfP

Another sign the debasement trade is starting to replace AI mania: Store of value frenemies $GLD & $IBIT are back in the Top 10 most traded ETFs, knocking down some of the semiconductor ETFs, which took over the list all summer. They're still punching above weight but not nearly as much.

There's a new $70 million dollar film titled, "BITCOIN," that is in postproduction. Gal Gadot, Casey Affleck, Pete Davidson, Isla Fisher. Good news and Bad News: Good news first: This will put Bitcoin front-and-center with major stars in a an actual, "big" movie (not just a documentary). Doug Liman directs. He did The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Edge of Tomorrow, and even Swingers (when I met him). He's incredible. I expect the direction (so meaning the acting) will be exceptional. Top-notch. This might be one of the first AI films but where all of the acting and performances are 100% actors. Meaning, they saved money on sets and lighting by filming in an empty warehouse, theater style. A.I. creates the environments. This would have been a $200 million+ movie otherwise. Okay now BAD NEWS: This film is the Craig Wright story! Gal Gadot plays a journalist who is hired by Pete Davidson (playing crypto investor Calvin Ayre) to investigate Casey Affleck (playing Craig Wright). If you're newer to Bitcoin and have been hiding under a rock, you may have missed that Craig Wright claimed he was Satoshi Nakamoto 🤣🤡 This went to court where the evidence was overwhelming that he defrauded and lied to the court with an abundance of forged documents. He was suing both Peter McCormack and Magnus Granath (Hodlonaut) for years, simply for claiming he was not Satoshi. In short, the court declared Craig was not Satoshi, did not write the Bitcoin white paper, and did not code any of its software. Based on the film's premise, the movie is going to skew toward Craig Wright being Satoshi. How could he not be Satoshi if a coalition of tech billionaires, governments, and crypto organizations spent hundreds of millions just to discredit him? That will be the narrative. A.I. versions of Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Jack Dorsey appear in the film. So if Bitcoiners were expecting a balanced or honest portrayal of Bitcoin's beginnings... this isn't it. And I get why as a story-teller. If you set Bitcoin aside, it's a compelling narrative to focus on the misunderstood "genius" who gave the world perfect money but no one will believe him. Yet, Bitcoiners know this is flat out false. Oh... on top of all of this, the film is partially financed by... (drumroll)... Calvin Ayre! Calvin has been Craig Wright's main benefactor over the years and the most prominent supporter/promoter of Craig as Satoshi. So although a huge budget with A-list stars... it's really an indie movie made by Calvin Ayre about Craig Wright. As of this post there's no major domestic distributor outside of some international sales. I expect it to be a good film from a filmmaking aspect. But I'm bummed that the first big Bitcoin film, and with the title, "BITCOIN," might confuse newcomers on its history. There's always hope it gets other aspects of Bitcoin right (not Wright).

- What is Eric Balchunas's engagement rate on X?
- Eric Balchunas (@EricBalchunas) has an engagement rate of 0.014%, based on the median interactions across 51 original posts from the last 30 days against 628,665 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.014%, Eric Balchunas sits above the 10th percentile of the 212,656 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @EricBalchunas have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 38% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (21,185 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @EricBalchunas post?
- Most posts go out around 11:00 UTC, and Monday is its busiest day, at roughly 4.2 posts per day across the measured window.
