European Commission engagement report
@EU_Commission - 1.9M followers on X
Measured over 28 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on August 31, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 1.8K interactions against 1.9M followers, an engagement rate of 0.099%. Measured over 28 original posts, its engagement rate beats 85% of 3,758 tracked accounts of a similar size. Comparing inside a size band matters here: engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly just re-measure the follower count. Posts are seen about 101K times each, and 1.82% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 5.39% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.9 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 70% of days. Most posts go out around 07:00 UTC, and Saturday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 28 posts sampled, 82% carry an image or video, 11% are part of a thread and 36% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 70K interactions, about 38x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
European Commission's engagement rate beats 85% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,758 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 10 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 74% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.099%, European Commission sits above the 50th percentile of the 36,521 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the above the median band, which runs 0.08% to 0.434%.

This account posts most often around 07:00 UTC, and Saturday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

The images coming from Ceuta are unacceptable. We cannot allow anyone to come to our Union without abiding by our rules. Dangerous crossings must stop immediately. Smuggling networks must be dismantled. And returns must be swift, as our rules allow. I tasked two Commissioners to support to control the situation. @magnusbrunner is already working closely with Spain and is ready to travel to critical points. He will work on additional operational support to Spain, including through Frontex. @dubravkasuica is in contact with her Moroccan counterpart. I am confident that our close partnership with Morocco will help deliver concrete results.

Once again we wake up to the news of horrible atrocities by Russia through its aerial attacks on Ukraine. Russia must pay for the destruction it has caused. And we are using the proceeds from the immobilised Russian assets to make sure it does. We are making a further €1.4 billion of them available to Ukraine. This will support Ukraine's continued resistance against Russia's illegal war. https://t.co/PzIQDMv5tB

Emergency crews have been working at the sites of Russian strikes since overnight. It was a massive attack – the Russians had been preparing for a long time, combining different types of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, aiming to cause as much damage as possible to civilian infrastructure. There is destruction in Kyiv and the region, as well as in the Odesa and Chernihiv regions. In the capital, residential buildings were damaged, including a high-rise whose upper floors were destroyed, as well as a children’s hospital and a school. Emergency response and rescue operations are ongoing. As of now, we know that this Russian strike has claimed the lives of 12 people in Kyiv, with one person killed in the region. My condolences to all the families and loved ones. Around 40 more people were injured. In the Odesa region, the enemy carried out a drone attack on a border crossing with Moldova; in the Chernihiv region, it targeted gas infrastructure. I thank all the rescuers, medics, police officers, and utility workers who have been helping people from the first moments. Unfortunately, while Moscow is investing in ballistic missiles and escalation, such strikes do not always receive the response they should from the world. And as long as Ukraine does not have enough anti-ballistic defense, Russia will not consider peace seriously. We are doing everything to ensure we have that protection, and work on the FREYJA program continues every day. But Patriot interceptors cannot yet be replaced, and we need them every day. Every additional missile saves the lives of our people. I thank everyone who understands this and is looking for and finding ways to help.

I want to offer my condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of Russia’s latest attacks in the Kyiv region and in Sloviansk. During the strikes, Russia has also destroyed Latvia’s Honorary Consulate. Once again proving its complete disregard for diplomacy. Europe stands in full solidarity with Latvia and Ukraine. Russia is losing the war it started, and is increasingly targeting civilians in a desperate attempt to crush Ukraine’s spirit. But Ukraine’s spirit is unbreakable. And so is Europe’s resolve to support Ukraine’s defence.

Tonight, Europe’s heart is with the people of Colombia after the terrible earthquake in the Chocó region. We have already mobilised Copernicus, our satellite service, to help with rescue operations. And we are ready to provide more support. Estamos con ustedes. 🇪🇺🇨🇴

I held a conference call with Commissioners @magnusbrunner and @dubravkasuica for an update on the situation in Ceuta. The good news is that the vast majority of those who arrived illegally have returned to Morocco, due to the effective work of Spanish and Moroccan law enforcement. Not a single person reached mainland Spain or the rest of the EU. This shows why the control of our European borders matters. We have a strong system in place. But it needs to be further strengthened. We must remain vigilant at every critical entry point and maintain close coordination between all authorities. At the same time, we need a lessons learned process to improve our European resilience. The Commission has offered support to Spain from the first moment. I received letters from several leaders and I welcome the call for an extraordinary videoconference to take stock of what has happened. Fighting illegal migration requires solidarity and a united European response.

Another unacceptable violation of our EU airspace caused by Russia’s latest strikes on Ukraine, this time over Poland. The Polish people are famously unafraid dear @donaldtusk, and our thoughts are with them. To put an end to this, we are helping Ukraine win this war in every way we can. And we are building a robust European security architecture on land, at sea and in the air.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank the brave 🇵🇹 🇨🇿 🇮🇹 🇬🇷 🇸🇪 🇭🇷 🇩🇪 🇸🇰 🇹🇷 teams deployed to France and Spain to fight the blaze. This is solidarity at its best, from the EU and beyond. The courage and dedication of these firefighters is a reminder that when we stand together, we are stronger.

- What is European Commission's engagement rate on X?
- European Commission (@EU_Commission) has an engagement rate of 0.099%, based on the median interactions across 28 original posts from the last 30 days against 1,865,460 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.099%, European Commission sits above the 50th percentile of the 36,521 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @EU_Commission have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 85% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,758 accounts), which puts it in the top quarter for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @EU_Commission post?
- Most posts go out around 07:00 UTC, and Saturday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.9 posts per day across the measured window.
