Tom Barrack is supposed to represent the interests of the United States, yet he sounds more like Turkey’s advocate than an American diplomat. His constant praise of Ankara, his push to bring Turkey back into the F-35 program, and his willingness to bend over backward to accommodate Erdoğan are deeply concerning. America needs diplomats who put American interests first, not people who seem more invested in protecting Turkey’s interests and now Syria too. If Barrack likes Turkey that much, perhaps he should stay there permanently.
