Defense of Ukraine engagement report
@DefenceU - 2.2M followers on X
Measured over 176 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on October 24, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 1.9K interactions against 2.2M followers, an engagement rate of 0.085%. Measured over 176 original posts, its engagement rate beats 68% of 20,444 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 50K times each, and 3.77% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 2.25% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 6.8 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on almost every day in the window. Most posts go out around 05:00 UTC, and Friday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 176 posts sampled, 82% carry an image or video and 18% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 19K interactions, about 10.0x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
Defense of Ukraine's engagement rate beats 68% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 10 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 84% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Posting timing
This account posts most often around 05:00 UTC, and Friday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Formats this account uses
Its own posting mix on the left, and what each of those formats does across every account we track on the right. Only formats where the effect clears our publish test appear here, so an empty row is a format we could not measure rather than one that does nothing.
| Format | This account | Catalog effect | 95% interval | Accounts behind it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image or video | 82% of posts | +111% | +108% to +115% | 34K |
| Outbound link | 18% of posts | -41% | -42% to -40% | 32K |
| Typical length | - | +15% | +14% to +16% | 32K |
- 82% of this account's sampled posts carry an image or video. Across the catalog, posts with an image or video run 111% above the same accounts' other posts.
- 18% of its posts carry a link off X. Across the catalog, posts with an outbound link run 41% below the same accounts' other posts.
- Its average post runs 405 characters, which falls in the over 280 characters band. Across the catalog, posts over 280 characters run 15% above the same accounts' other posts.
These are catalog-wide differences applied to this account's own posting mix, not a measurement of how each format performs for this account specifically. We keep one median per account, not one per format per account, so the second thing is not something this data can tell you.

🇺🇦🤝🇬🇧 The United Kingdom has approved the transfer of Storm Shadow technology for production in Ukraine. Up to 300 km range. 450 kg warhead. Soon assembled closer to the front. Thank you, United Kingdom, for standing with us since day one! https://t.co/4aJoLisSYB

An absolutely cynical and despicable strike was carried out by the Russians against an ordinary shopping center in Kryvyi Rih. The attack drones struck in two waves – half an hour after the first hit and the fire, there was a second strike targeting the emergency responders. As of now, five deaths have been reported. My condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed. At least 52 people have been injured, including six children. All those injured are receiving the necessary medical care. Attacks like these are nothing less than terrorist acts. And the world must respond to them accordingly – with real pressure on the aggressor. For peace to be possible, Russia must face real accountability.

Six strategic refineries. Up to 1,600 km behind the front line. One week. This is Ukraine's answer to Russian terror: a week of strikes on Russia's fuel and energy sector. Every target is a key facility of the aggressor's defense industry, supplying fuel to Russian occupation forces. To be continued. 💥

Our warriors have completed another movement of Operation Vivaldi in the Donbas. Zelena Dolyna, Lypove and Kolodiazi are free again, bringing 101 square kilometers back to Ukraine. Across the whole operation, 16 towns and villages and 277 km² have been liberated, while the enemy has lost around 8,000 personnel.

900 km from the front line. Ukraine's Defense Forces struck a Russian oil facility in the Samara region, one of Russia's largest gas processing and petrochemical plants. The plant produces raw materials for explosives: benzene, phenol, acetone, and synthetic ethyl alcohol. These and other components are used to fill artillery shells, aerial bombs, cluster munitions, and missiles.

Our long-range responses had a very significant impact in the Moscow region last night. One of Russia’s key oil industry facilities and the aggressor’s logistics facility were hit. These are billions of dollars that sustain the war machine. The systems used included FP-1, RZ-100, MICH-2000, Palianytsia, Vendetta, Liutyi, Bars, Flamingo, Sichen, and Pelican. I thank our warriors for their accuracy: the Security Service of Ukraine together with the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, and the Foreign Intelligence Service. Sanctions were also imposed on a facility in the Voronezh region. Moscow must end its brutal war and choose peace instead of building layered rings of air defense at the expense of other regions. Steps toward de-escalation are on the table – in energy and food security. What is needed is political will. I thank everyone who is strengthening Ukraine’s long-range capabilities. I am grateful to everyone who complements our long-range responses with responses through sanctions. Glory to Ukraine! @ZelenskyyUa

🔥 Ukraine has taken 7 of Wildberries’ 10 largest logistics hubs out of operation. On Sunday night, following a large-scale drone attack on the Moscow region, the company’s logistics hub at the Koledino industrial park also ceased operations, alongside the warehouse in Domodedovo. It was Wildberries’ largest warehouse by area — 250,000 m². Russian logistics is feeling the consequences of the war Russia brought to Ukraine.

- What is Defense of Ukraine's engagement rate on X?
- Defense of Ukraine (@DefenceU) has an engagement rate of 0.085%, based on the median interactions across 176 original posts from the last 30 days against 2,212,675 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.085%, Defense of Ukraine sits above the 25th percentile of the 204,694 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @DefenceU have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 68% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (20,444 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @DefenceU post?
- Most posts go out around 05:00 UTC, and Friday is its busiest day, at roughly 6.77 posts per day across the measured window.
