Nous étions venus les mains nues et avions montré que nous n’étions pas armés. Pourtant, ils ont usé d’une violence barbare, d’une répression qui a coûté la vie à des Congolais. J’exprime mes plus sincères condoléances aux familles des victimes. Cette répression visait à faire taire la population, mais nous ne céderons pas et n’abandonnerons pas notre combat contre le changement de Constitution. Nous irons jusqu’au bout. Ce n’est que le début : nous poursuivrons la lutte jusqu’à la victoire.

Au moment où notre intégrité territoriale est menacée, ouvrir un processus de changement constitutionnel, c'est prendre la responsabilité d'ouvrir les fractures que la Constitution de 2006 avait précisément pour vocation de refermer : divisions identitaires, revendications séparatistes, logiques d'autodétermination et conflits communautaires. La Constitution de 2006 a permis de substituer la force du droit au droit de la force. Ceux qui entreprennent aujourd'hui de la fragiliser prennent une lourde responsabilité devant la Nation et devant l'Histoire. Quand la patrie est menacée, le devoir commande de la rassembler, non de la diviser. Il est encore temps! Écoutons la voix de la sagesse.
